Statement jewelry inspired by nature, adventure, and everyday life.

“I just love being able to take something that I doodled and create something beautiful. I draw inspiration from everyday moments of joy, beauty, adventure, my dog – just everything that surrounds me.”

Colleen Roxas, a graphic designer and budding entrepreneur has been creating jewelry since she was a little girl, receiving her first jewelry-making bead kits from family members. In high school and into college, she sculpted miniature confectionary jewelry using polymer clay. In art school, she explored techniques in abstract pattern-making, to combine her love of typographic forms in graphic design. This led to tests and discoveries in laser-cutting techniques to transform typographic experiments into 3D accessories. Other subjects in her work expanded into other themes of interest, such as elements of nature encapsulated in glass globes.

“I’ve always loved accessories and having a form of wearable art, it is my way expressing myself. And I wanted to share that with others,” said Roxas.

Nowadays, instead of using beads or clay, she primarily focuses on using her Glowforge laser cutter to bring her designs to life. She says her ultimate goal is to bring joy to others in a meaningful way with every piece. The process is a form of healing, to translate every moment into a visual form of gratitude. It takes unpleasant memories, and transforms them into various reminders of delightful experiences, representing resilience, growth, hope, and optimism.

“Enjoy the little things in life because one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things.” – Robert Brault

During the day, Roxas works as a user-interface + user-experience designer with large companies and individuals to create and improve websites or mobile applications. With a human-centered approach to design, digital products help to progress and revolutionize everyday interactions. Roxas sets aside time after this day job to hand-paint every piece, hoping they will inspire whoever may end up with the finished accessory.

“Colleen works hard and is hard on herself. Like any other artist, she is her toughest critic,” said Charles Zhaung, Roxas’s boyfriend. “By default, she has a child-like approach to living life, and can get excited over the smallest deeds.”

“For now this is just a hobby, but further down the line I would love to make this some kind of full-time business,” said Roxas. “That is my super dream goal,” she says.

In the future, she hopes to experiment with more products and innovations that further combine her love of interactivity amongst digital + physical products. Hopefully, more experiments can lead towards continual intersection of passion and service for others.
