Video summary: pulling the germinate print - it's always an exciting process to see what is created after all of the drawing, carving, inking, and printing

With my own two hands

I decided to focus on printmaking while studying in college because I have always admired art that has a focus on colors, shapes, and forms and I feel this medium lends itself to demand you narrow in on those design elements.

Printmaking is also very physical and I can actually work up a sweat sometimes when printing, believe it or not! It's similar to wheel-throwing/pottery to me (which I also love) because of the super hands-on connection you have while carving and printing the block. I usually use a wooden spoon to transfer my prints. I don't have a letterpress. It's definitely a labor of love and I guess i've always just been a kinetically aware person. I have a strong background and passion for athletics and being active. Again, I think it's important to cultivate a strong mind/body connection.

I have the amazing support of my husband, two dogs- puggles: Mo, who's namesake is Mariano Rivera and Dexter named after the show about a blood spatter analyst who is a vigilante) and family in order to pursue a creative path and looking forward to seeing where this takes us. Thanks, babe.

Women have always been a subject matter I have devoted time to because I think we are capable of being the most amazing human beings if we would get out of our own way. Our bodies alone are able to accomplish incredible feats.
I have been so lucky to be surrounded and encouraged by strong, independent, creative, and courageous women my whole life. I have also have had some incredible men who believed in me and have helped me along the way.

The other thing that amazes me is the human body and nature. However, what I love most about it all is how effortlessly all the parts of our making come together to do work harmoniously for us (the person). The fact that we have billions of atoms, cells, tissues, organs working together and none of them are fighting for credit but continue to move us along in this life is simply remarkable. I am in awe daily.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my art!
Enjoy!
