Become your own favorite color designer

These yarns come in a great array of related, coordinated colors that give confidence to the novice colorist, nuance to the experienced designer. My wish is that these unique yarns will empower fiber artists to develop color design skills. Each set of yarn is individually crafted by my proprietary method using successive treatments with shifting concentrations of dye. Hence, the name ColorShift.

My gradients became so popular that others began to try to copy them, even trying to mimic my color selections, color names, photo styling, even my trade name. Having pioneered gradient yarns and seen the idea blossom, I am now in the odd position of being taken for an imitator . Being first means my experience offers superior quality and superb color. My reviews say it all!

To eliminate knots and pilling, I worked with five mills before I found one to make consistently high quality yarn to my specifications. Milled exclusively for ColorShift from carefully processed, lustrous Merino, my yarn doesn't split when stitched, is incredibly durable to abrasion and laundering, and is soft and inviting to the touch. The joins are air spliced, never knotted. The long wool staples are not shredded or parched in processing, so you won't find brittle crumbles as with commercially over-processed fibers. Carding traps in barnyard bits and snaps the wool into pieces with split ends that cause pilling. But ColorShift wool is not carded; it is combed. It has the foreign matter and short fibers gently combed out, leaving behind only the long and healthy fibers fully intact. The state-of-the-art spinning process pulls fiber ends from the yarn surface into the core of the yarn to further discourage pilling.

I am a Senior Member of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists with 30 years of studio and professional experience. My book "Color in Black and White" explains my methods for using color in design.

If a set of yarn is being dyed to order for you, the waiting period is stated on the listing tab as "Ready to Ship in ..." If items of different shipping dates are ordered together, the order defaults to the latest shipping date, which appears during the checkout process and on your receipt. You will receive an email from me confirming this date. Please check your spam/junk folders if you filter your email.

All shipments are by USPS to the address you have listed with Etsy. You will receive tracking information when your parcel is shipped. Tracking information may not be available to you online during the first day even though your parcel is on its way. First Class and Parcel Select classes of mail are not always scanned as frequently as other classes of mail, so your parcel may show no progress online even though it is getting closer to you.

If your parcel is lost or damaged in transit, you will need to provide information to the insurer in order for the insurance claim to be processed.

Once your parcel leaves here, I have no control over how quickly the USPS delivers it. The USPS First Class and Priority Mail delivery times are estimates, not USPS guarantees. I have never missed a shipping deadline. I cannot control the speed of delivery beyond that.

If your parcel is returned because of an incorrect address or because it was not claimed, your purchase will be refunded minus the postal fees, including return charges and insurance.

Please keep your email address current with Etsy for automatic downloads of PDFs and notification of convos.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are unhappy with your purchase please do not hesitate to let me know. I am an online shopper, too. I understand disappointment in online shopping, and I want you to be happy. I have extremely high standards for my work and personally guarantee the quality with my reputation.

Refunds are issued for yarn that does not meet the standards described in the listing, provided the care instructions have been followed and the yarn is safely returned by prior arrangement between me and the original purchaser.

I have never had a report of yarn being defective or misrepresented, however I have encountered impulse buyers who changed their minds or could not decide what to make with the yarn and people who received the yarn as a gift, but wished to exchange it or have me buy it back.

I do not resell yarn that has been handled and stored outside my shop. All of my customers are guaranteed to receive fresh, first quality yarn in its original condition, straight from the dyeworks, not something from someone else's stash.

If you are unsure about monitor colors or other features of the yarn that would make it suitable for your intended use, or if you are not sure what is contained in a digital file, please contact me BEFORE purchase to see how your expectations can be met.
