Compass Rose Studio was amazing to work with, and I LOVE my custom map save the dates! Amy made the process so easy. Shipping was quick, and the paper and print quality were beyond my already high expectations. Thank You Amy!!! I look forward to working with you again on my wedding invitations.
I love working one-on-one with clients to create genuinely unique and inspiring designs.
Hi! I'm Amy, owner of Compass Rose Studio, and an independent artist with over a decade of illustration and print production experience.
I started drawing when I was old enough to hold a pencil and simply never stopped. As an innate animal lover, my early years were dedicated to bringing animals to life on paper. When I wasn’t drawing bunnies and chipmunks, I focused on gorgeous landscapes; likely, the product of growing up with a forest for a backyard and a creek where a swimming pool would traditionally go. I drew anything and everything around me.
To this day I stick to my roots. Before touching a keyboard and mouse, I start with my sketchbook and pencil. I opened Compass Rose Studio because I truly enjoy working with clients at a personal level to create custom, hand-crafted stationery.
Thank you for visiting my shop!
What's in a name, Compass Rose Studio?
A compass rose has been illustrated on maps, oceanic charts, and historic atlases since as early as 1200AD to display direction (N, NE, S, SE, W, etc...).
My passion for art, the sea, and vintage maps was the inspiration for Compass Rose Studio. The word compass is based on the Latin word 'com' (together) and 'passus' (a step or pace). In a sense, the milestone you are celebrating in your life and the direction you're headed. The 'rose' is derived from the elaborate and ornate petal designs illustrated on early compasses. Together, Compass and Rose is quite beautiful.

I started drawing when I was old enough to hold a pencil and simply never stopped. Working one-on-one with clients to create genuinely unique, inspiring, and original designs is a rewarding experience.
Mike, my amazing husband, handles "everything else" behind the scenes at Compass Rose Studio, so I can focus on creating new designs and working one-on-one with my clients (what I enjoy the most!). This is his favorite photo from our wedding!
In addition to being the Studio Manager, Buffy also secures the premises to make sure the mailman does NOT break in when Amy is busy working.
Compass Rose Studio is open M-F 9-7 PST, closed on weekends and major holidays.

::::: ANSWERING COMMON QUESTIONS :::::
If the answer to your question can be found in item description or Shop Policies, we may simply point you in the right direction, instead of re-writing the answer. This allows us to spend more time designing and ensures every client gets the attention they deserve. :)

Most colors and all text can be customized. If your customization requests include changing the design, illustration or font, there may be an additional customization fee. We will always discuss this with you in advance.
::::: HOW DO COLOR CHANGES WORK? :::::
If you are requesting specific colors, you must request this when your order is placed, and a link or image should be provided for our reference. We don't use a color chart, as ANY color is an option. Color changes requested after your proof has been sent will result in an additional fee (based on the complexity of the design).
Most colors can be changed with the exception of watercolor illustrations. If you'd like to change the color of a watercolor illustration, please ask first to make sure it's possible.
