Creativity in the Genes

I grew up with an incredibly creative mother. She sewed darling little dresses, made fun Halloween costumes, crafted beautifully personal Christmas ornaments and could draw just about anything a kid could imagine. As we grew up she only got craftier!

As a child and young adult I was pretty creative myself, but it wasn't until after I had my own children that I fell in love with craftiness. I developed a passion for devising unique, charming birthday celebrations for my girls. The invitations were hand made and always one of a kind designs of my own making. As the years passed I began adding to my celebration arsenal with garlands, backdrops, photo booths, favors, cake toppers and custom cakes (I leave the baking to the bakers).

The more events I created the more I realized that I was doing something that not very many people can do. I discovered that no one else I knew, even my crafty mother, was laying in bed at night thinking about uncommon party themes, venues or catchy invitation wording (Seriously guys, that kind of stuff keeps me up at night). Many of us are busy with careers or family and just don't have the time, the ability or the desire to spend countless hours on party details.

Gosh, wouldn't it be neat if I could turn my creative party genius into a career? If my job could be to create these celebrations for people who can't do the work, but still want the pretty stuff? If I could use my power for the good of these people so they still get the oohs and aahs without the aching back or creativity induced insanity? Hmmm...

In December 2012, Confetti Grove was born. Confetti Grove the Etsy Shop. Confetti Grove the blog. Confetti Grove the local celebration designer.

I wanted a name that made me happy. A name that I could see when I closed my eyes. Confetti is just plain fun, and messy, but still fun. Wouldn't it be awesome if confetti grew on trees? Can't you just imagine walking through a grove of confetti trees. Listening to the wind blowing through the confetti bits. Seeing circles of confetti slowly falling to the ground. Grabbing handfuls of confetti from the ground in the fall and throwing it in the air. If only such a place existed.

Confetti Grove is still a part-time job for me, but I can assure you that celebrations of all kinds are a full-time obsession. I may not be able to devote a full work day to bringing all of my crazy ideas to life yet, but that day will come soon (September 2015!!) and when it does...
