Turning my hobby into a business!

Hi my name is Candy, I have been married to my husband Mike for 44 years. We have 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Life is good!

We live in upstate NY in the small city of Oswego. It's beautiful in the summer because we live on one of the Great Lakes, Lake Ontario. But it's not real nice in the winter unless you like cold and snow. I can't forget my cat Jamber.

My mother took up stained glass as a hobby years ago. I would sit and watch her. She was great at anything she did. So, one day I decided to take a stained glass class with my mother. I took a few more classes and self tough myself. When I had a problem or a question I would ask my mom. My mother liked working with lead came, and I liked working with copper foil.

My mom and I went to a glass show in Pa., she bought me a kiln and a lamp work torch. It took me a few years to get them out but once I did I was hooked! I have been doing fused glass ever since. My mom passed away in 2009 from lung cancer. She is sadly missed but I feel that her spirit lives in my studio and that she is watching over me.

I am now doing consignment in 3 stores Midnight Sun and Connection Point in downtown Oswego. I am in an all women's co-op in Sugar Loaf near Chester New York about an hour out of NYC, along with my Etsy shop.
