I fell in love with copper

It began when I bought some lovely earrings from a fair, which quickly irritated my ridiculously sensitive ears. While swapping the hooks for stainless steel, I thought I’d make my own from scratch. Somewhere along the line, I discovered wirework and began twiddling rings and earrings, learning from YouTube and Pinterest. Copper was my favoured medium; it was reasonably cheap and hardy, but relatively malleable.

I decided to take things a step further and began a college course, opening up my hobby to the great world of machinery and chemicals! I was hooked. A sheet of copper and a lot of blowtorch gas later, I was learning how to change the colour of this incredible metal from orange to amazing purples, pinks and blues. I’m still experimenting with my craft, and will never stop, although these days it’s all done in my kitchen.
