PLANT DYED ORGANIC SILK RIBBONS

Silk is one of the strongest natural fibers and also the most subtle one. It drapes beautifully and has a soft feathery feel to it. Our plant dyed silk ribbons are inspired by nature and changing seasons. The colors created by plants are unique and perfectly imperfect, which means that slight color variations and unique characteristics may occur, but this is what makes each ribbon special and one-of-a-kind. Each color is created with specific proportions of materials locally harvested by us or gathered from family and friends. Our silk ribbons are dyed in a small batches and some colors are a multistep process, taking days to reach their full potential.
Organic plant dyed silk ribbons are made from 100% natural silk fabric with organic and natural plant dyes. Each ribbon is uniquely hand-dyed in my studio in Germany to make sure your ribbon will be a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Each spool is treated by hand and the edges are frayed to create subtle feathery texture, resulting in a delicate and soft drape. This hand-crafted product is made using only the finest chiffon silk, georgette, pongee and baronette silk.

OUR FABRIC

* 100% CHIFFON ORGANIC SILK *

This organic sheer fabric is made from 100% natural fibers. Chiffon is the finest quality elegant silk with a slightly rough feel to it. It is a feather-weight ethereal fabric, which drapes beautifully and has a floating appearance to it. Chiffon is softer and thinner then Georgette silk, as well as smoother and more lustrous.

* 100% GEORGETTE ORGANIC SILK *

This organic sheer silk fabric is made from 100% natural fibers. Georgette is made like Chiffon silk, but with two or three ply yarn, which makes it slightly heavier, springer and less lustrous then Chiffon. Fine, light-weight and plain weave fabric that has a delicate sheer grain texture giving it a unique feel. Georgette drapes very fluidly and falls into soft delicate ripples. With its creped surface, this sheer and strong silk fabric is great for creating an organic feel.

* 100% PONGEE ORGANIC SILK *

This organic silk is made from 100% natural fibers. A plain woven, thin silk fabric that has a rough weave effect. This delicately ethereal fabric is the finest quality sheen organic silk. Pongee is a thin translucent silk with an excellent drape that will give a good definition to your designs creating a natural flow and drape.

* 100% BARONETTE ORGANIC SILK *

This organic silk fabric is made from 100% natural fibers - 70% silk and 30% pure cotton. This beautiful fabric has uniquely a matt cotton back and silk front with a beautiful delicate sheen finish. Originally, Baronette (or Baronet) silk was used only by the upper classes and became famous in Europe during the twelfth century. This luxurious and heavy-weight organic silk fabric drapes loosely and adds a unique texture to your designs. It is great for statement bouquets and table styling, creating an organic feel to them.

Please note that my store is unable to offer refunds for ribbons and other textiles. The store also does not accept cancellations, however please feel free to contact me if you have any problems with your order and I would be happy to find a solution that will work the best for both of us.

SHIPPING

The shipping process usually starts within 1-2 business days, when payment is received in full.

I ship domestic orders, as well as international.
Shipping costs are by weight and by default from DHL Germany Mail. International orders are shipping according to weight. Shipping times can vary.

For custom orders, the time that I need to prepare and place a shipping varies and usually require an extra day or two. Please note, that for custom orders I have to ask for a full payment up-front.

For guaranteed delivery to the mailbox or post office box of recipient you can order Delivery Confirmation. If you wish, please pick 'DELIVERY CONFIRMATION' in shipping options at the checkout.

Care instructions

All of Corcortez organic silk ribbons are washable and I highly encourage you to wash as needed and re-use them.
Because the ribbons are dyed with living color pigments, the color is effected by a smallest change in pH or added chemicals. Please remember, to only use pH neutral soap if needed. You can also wash your ribbons in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with pH neutral chemicals. Ribbons can be hung to dry and ironed. Our ribbons will naturally fray after multiple uses.

Are the ribbons colors accurate with what I see in the photos?

Silk has a natural prism-like structure which refracts incoming light at different angles. This is what gives silk ribbon it’s iridescent appearance. Plant dyes also have a similar reaction to light and they create a living color that changes and adapts to it’s surrounding. Plant dyes create complex colors that contain a variety of pigments. For this reason, colors may appear to change depending on the lighting. Although no photograph can compare to the actual product in person, great care has gone into photographing in natural light for color accuracy.

What are the fabrics we are working with?

We are working with several silk types, such as pongee, chiffon, georgette and baronette silk, that are made from 100% natural silk fabric. All of the fabrics used by Corcortez are either biodegradable or can be easily re-used and recycled. Where are our dyes come from?

Our dyes come from a variety of sources. We source all the dye material from both international and domestic sources. If there are any imported dyes, all of them are Fair Trade and sustainably sourced. Our local dye materials are organically grown or foraged by us or our family and friends.

Custom and personalized orders

We are more then happy to create a custom order for you. Natural dyes have endless color possibilities and we'd love to collaborate and create something special for your unique occasion. Please note, that all pieces are created by hand and the custsom orders take a little bit more time then our usual ones, as we take our time to find the most ideal plant dye combination to match your unique color.
