Announcement Focusing on texture and contrast, I create for those of us that can't keep our hands off things. Objects that want to be touched and want to play in the light. It is my hope that my work will allow others to be reminded of their own dreams, to find beauty in the little things and to be inspired by the stories behind each piece.

I've always loved to play in mud. I'm just more specific about it now.
Corduroy Clay consists of me, Carrie Martin. Primarily, I'm a potter and tile maker in Tallahassee, Florida. However, I've also been known to dabble in sewing, book making, painting, sketching, journaling, creative writing, paper-making, jewelry making, mosaics and whatever else I could get my hands on.
I've been selling pottery since 2005 and in love with it much longer than that. Originally, I mostly sold out of my home during home shows, where I'd transform my home into an open pottery gallery full of refreshments, friends of friends and lots of family. I currently sell on Etsy and at local markets. I'm constantly inspired by the books I read, the people I love, the gifts nature leaves behind and the materials I work with. Using a lot of texture and plays on contrast I try to transform these things into my art.
For more information, and more detailed stories behind the individual works, you can check out my website: www.corduroyclay.com, or look for me on Facebook and Instagram. I welcome questions and comments and hope that my work will bring some happiness and beauty to to your world.

For discount inquiries, please refer to my shop announcement, Instagram or Facebook page for occasional sales and promotions.
My shipping prices are for USPS mail and include everything being packaged with plenty of bubble wrap and peanuts and/or brown paper to ensure a cushy ride. I only buy the cornstarch, biodegradable peanuts, but I do reuse any peanuts I receive from other shipments. If your peanuts look like cheese-less cheetos, consider using in your compost! Items ship either by First Class, Priority or Parcel Post mail depending on their size and weight. I try to ship the most inexpensive way that still gets to you faster. All packages have insurance on them. Please allow 2-14 days for your package to arrive, 2-3 if it was shipped via Priority Mail. The tracking number you'll receive when the order ships doesn't always show up to date information either. I've had many packages that have tracking showing that only the label was created, all the way up until the customer receives the package, so please be patient.
For International orders, shipping options vary and will take an undetermined amount of time to arrive. If you prefer to have your order shipped a specific way, please send me a message indicating which you prefer. I will work with you to adjust any shipping costs the best I can.
Refunds and Exchanges
For lost packages, I can file a claim through the vendor, however, please note that a claim cannot be filed until 21 days after the shipping date (USPS policy). Once I get the refund, I will refund your order.
***Additionally, colors may vary due to the firing process, the way the glazes pool and your monitor settings, and since each item is handmade, there will be slight variations. My tiles do not match commercially made tiles and I will not accept returns for custom orders based on these variations. If you purchase an already made item and simply are not happy with it, by all means you may ship it back to me, in the packaging you received it in, and once the item is received undamaged, I will refund your purchase price for it. Buyer is responsible for shipping charges.***
Additional policies and FAQs
I only do custom orders for existing designs and current sizes listed in my shop only, not new designs or size requests. I can make however many of an item you see, or in another color shown on the site, but the size and designs will stay the same.
Once we agree on what you're specifically looking for, I will create a reserved listing for you. Once payment is received, I will begin work on the order. Special Orders take at least 4-6 weeks for shipment after payment is processed and longer for larger orders, but I will let you know if it will take longer. I do not accept returns on special order items, unless of course it is damaged. There are some instances where I can resell a special order item though, so if you are just unhappy with it, please message me and I'll see what I can do.
If you have any questions, please contact me through Etsy Conversations. I check my messages constantly and try to reply to everyone within hours of receiving a message (unless I'm sleeping of course!). I want everyone's experience here to be wonderful!

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders
I will only do custom orders for existing designs. Within these designs, I can do any number of quantity or existing glaze colors. Special orders generally take 4-6 weeks, longer for larger orders, so just message me and I'll let you know.
Sizes listed are approximate measurements, not exact.
All of my place settings and dinnerware pieces are food safe and can be used in the oven, microwave and dishwasher. I use all my own wares, so they've been tried and tested for years. The only thing I don't recommend is using them in the oven if the dish was in the refrigerator. The drastic change from cold to hot could cause cracking or breaking.
All of the tiles (unless otherwise stated for some of the older ones) are high fired and safe to use inside, outside and in areas that get a lot of water. They can be installed or hung by a small nail.
