Helping to keep the art of needlework alive.
I love to make things. I grew up in a family where needlework, sewing and quilting were a regular activities and it has become important to me to help keep those crafts alive. Having a project, or several projects, going at all times has become a necessity in my life. It keeps the "busyness" of life at bay and brings me back to center. I have tried many crafts, but none have captured my attention quite like cross stitch and other needlework.
I began cross stitching when my children were little and I would stitch while they took naps and at night time. I started stitching on stamped fabric as I wasn't confident enough to do counted cross stitch yet. I also discovered I enjoyed drawing about the same time. My husband and I would take the kids out into the desert to explore and I would draw the old rock houses, old structures, neat gnarly trees and whatever else I could find. I decided to try my hand at designing my own patterns, putting my drawing interest with the cross stitch interest and I eventually added hand embroidery patterns.
My business didn't begin at a certain time, it has gradually evolved into what it is today. I've learned a lot about myself in the process and it has been a wonderful and exciting experience seeing it come together. I've come to have designs published in magazines, design fabric and other gift items. The internet marketplaces are an enjoyable and continual learning adventure. I'm really happy to be offering my patterns for sale to people around the world via the internet. I look forward to many more fun years of designing and stitching.
I'm one of the many out there who love flowers and nature and I use the inspiration to create colorful flowery needlework patterns and watercolor paintings.
