Announcement    WELCOME TO COUNTRY WEAVER DESIGNS
NOTE: As we shelter in place during this time of crisis, my studio is a sanctuary for keeping the arts alive. I am still weaving and shipping orders, with utmost care and safety precautions. All shipping materials are wiped down and sanitized.
Using traditional foot-powered looms, I weave beautiful scarves, shawls, and fabric. The lovely hand woven fabric is transformed into unique and timeless fashion creations based on traditional and ethnic designs. I use natural fibers of wool, cotton, silk, bamboo, and rayon to create my weavings, one thread at a time. Please browse my shop to find a one-of-a-kind garment, or let me weave you your own personal and individual piece of art-to-wear.

Classic styles to fit all shapes and sizes

My earliest memories are of the rhythmic sounds of the loom: the clack of the treadles, the thump of the beater against the weft. I have images of my Finnish grandmother sitting in the shade in summer, tearing old sheets, blankets, and worn-out clothes into strips to be woven into sturdy, colorful rag rugs. When I was about twelve, "Mummu" finally taught me how to weave on our old hand-made rug loom. For many summers I would transform left-over rags into what I considered beautiful creations!
Weaving and sewing stayed with me through my teaching career as a wonderful hobby, and then as a new career for the next half of my life.
My weaving has transformed from rugs to clothing but I still feel the creative spirit of grandmother encouraging me to keep weaving and trying something new.
