About

Obscure items find me.

Every single item for sale in this shop has been carefully chosen and curated for you.

As one of the original Etsy shops, we have had over a decade to cull our wares. Most of our items are new-old-stock, found either by the handful or gross. Searching tirelessly, after a while, the merchandise has started to find us.

Sourced domestically and globally, most of our offerings are vintage. Anywhere from 20-100 years old, there is still a lot of life in them. Many have never been sold or circulated.

Experienced in the antiques business since an early age, we are well-versed on dates and origins. Although the items we stock are very different, we are confident in the valuation and descriptions we give. If we are not sure about something, we say it.

We have shipped to over 60 countries. This shop is run out of very peculiar arrangements in the upstairs of our home into the wee hours, often seven days a week, purveyed exclusively by the United States Postal Service.

Frequently asked questions
Do you combine shipping costs?

Absolutely! Domestic orders over $49 within the USA ship free of charge, while smaller orders have shipping accurately combined by the cart.

What about VAT and international orders?

We ship all over the world! We do everything in our power to insure that your parcel gets to you. We are not liable for the payment of VAT or customs fees once it arrives, nor are we liable for the original postage costs paid on parcels returned to us, by your postal courier or anyone else, for any reason.

Customs labels are automatically generated by Etsy and marked as “merchandise” with the correct dollar amount. It is the buyer’s responsiblity to check with their local post office within the required time frame to retrieve their parcels.

What are the measurements of this item?

Clear measurements are included with every description, but we are always happy to convert standard to metric for you, and metric to standard. Just ask!

Why does this old item look new?

Vintage (pre-2000) and antique (pre-1940) items will be stated in the title. Much of what we sell was found in old shops or foundries, almost always in multiples and usually discovered in the original packaging materials.

If an item is a new supply, it will be stated as such.

Old aluminum medallions? Not cheap and new?

Indeed! Due to the complexities of refining aluminum from ore, aluminum was considered more valuable than gold or silver through most of the 1800s. In the early 1900s the refinement was simplified, and aluminum became an inexpensive material. In the religious world, this meant that small devotionals were obtainable by anyone, even if they could not afford precious metals. Most of the aluminum pieces we offer for sale are extremely vintage, even antique. Some bear the original foundry markings, and most have come from Europe. Aluminum is lovely for its durability and ability to hold intricate detail. Being lightweight and shiny is not an indication of compromised quality, but rather an early alternative to heavier more costly metals.
