About Crafterall
-
The working corner of my studio.
-
Packing up The Great Lakes for some lucky recipient.

You betcha, these pieces are made here in the Land o' Lakes.
Welcome to Crafterall!
It’s been said that “Nature is the best architect,” and when it comes to the shapes and depths of the lakes and rivers in Minnesota, I wholeheartedly agree. With retreating glaciers, prehistoric meteors, and a vast network of underground aquifers as the designers, my job is simply to recreate these unique shapes, translating depths into layers of colored cardstock, and shorelines into modern art.
Each piece is meticulously cut from high-quality cardstock, using an arsenal of tiny blades, then assembled together, one layer at a time.
My repertoire grows with custom requests, and nearly everything in the shop today started with someone asking me if I could "cut" their lake, or shoreline, or island, or river bend, etc. As the body and scope of my work continues to grow, so grows my cutting and layering techniques, and my abilities to take on new challenges.
Everyone's got a lake. What's yours?

Additional policies and FAQs
http://www.crafterall.com/search/node/FAQ
Q. Where can I see your work in person?
A. Several awesome shops around the county carry Crafterall works. You can see the whole list on my website: www.crafterall.com/shop
Local Twin Cities folks can also usually find me at the No-Coast Craft-O-Rama Holiday show on the first Friday and Saturday in December each year.
Finally, you can schedule to visit me at my home in Shorewood. If you contact me ahead of time, I'd be happy to show you some color options or design options so that you can make the best decision.
Q. Can you send color swatches before I order something?
A. Picking a color can be really hard. I'd be happy to mail you some small color swatches. I ask only that you purchase a piece first and request the swatches in your order. Then, after you've received the swatches and selected a color, I'll make your piece and send it to you in the color you've chosen.
Q. I saw a piece on your blog that's not listed in your Etsy shop. Can I request it anyway?
A. In most cases, I'd be delighted to recreate a custom piece for you. Just contact me the details, and we'll go from there. Rarely, I make a piece that I either cannot or will not remake. But it never hurts to ask.
Q. Do you accept requests for custom orders?
A. Yes! I relish the opportunity to create a custom Crafterall handmade work for you. We can work off of an existing piece from my shop or create something entirely new. Please contact me to share your ideas and goals for a new project.
Q. Will you consider wholesale inquiries?
A. Yes! Large, bulk, and wholesale inquiries are most welcome. Please contact me with your interest.
Q. These pieces seem thicker than a photography or a poster. Can they still be framed in a store-bought frame?
A. You bet. They are a little thicker than a photo print, but not by much. I recommend framing most pieces with a mat and frame combo. Frames built for mats usually have a little extra room, and the mat really enhances the sense of depth in the pieces.
Q. Do you sell your work framed?
A. No. I leave that to the capable and creative hands of the professionals. If you ask, I'd be happy to recommend some local folks who do good work.
Q. What's the best way to contact you?
A. You may either send me a convo via Etsy or e-mail directly at Marnie.Karger [!at] gmail.com. I tend to check my e-mail many times a day and work to reply to your messages as soon as I can.
Q. Do you like marshmallows?
A. Yes! Raw, melty, burned, store-bought, homemade, flavored, plain, fresh, crusty: yum. (Circus peanuts do not count as marshmallows. Those are icky.)
Q. Do you ever have any sales?
A. Occasionally, but, if you've read this far, I want to thank you. To show my appreciation, use the coupon code "ISURVIVED" when you check out, and you will receive 10% off your purchase. Good on you! (Please use this code only once.)
