A long time coming...

My desire to learn about yarn dyeing came at the end of 2018. I wasn't thrilled with where I was working and wanted to explore an more creative endeavor. In 2019 I started gathering supplies and learning what I could via books and the internet. I had just begun exploring techniques when my mother suffered a stroke. She passed away 7 weeks later and I lost my footing. It took me months to realize and admit that I was struggling with depression. And then the pandemic began and it became easier to hide away from the world and pretend that I didn't want to take a chance to pursue a dream.

By 2021 I had worked through my depression, but began suffering increased anxiety due to my work situation. Once I reached the point where I needed to be medicated in order to sleep I decided that I'd had enough. I gave my notice and worked for several more weeks without a plan beyond just taking a much needed rest.

It wasn't long before I decided that if I was going to try to become an dyer, that now was the time. I spent the last few months of 2021 testing techniques and developing colorways. I had to learn how to have confidence in myself again and to acknowledge that it was okay to not get it right on the first try. Without the support of my husband, friends, and family I likely wouldn't have gotten to this point. I am forever grateful to them for believing in me even when I had trouble doing so.

Early on in the shop's development I knew that I wanted to merge my love of yarn with my love of videogames, board games, and anime. I draw heavily, but not exclusively, from these areas of interest for the inspiration of my colorways. I hope some of my customers become inspired by my work to learn more about the things that inspired the colorways creation.
