About CraftyIntentions

Sales 12,086
On Etsy since 2008

Starting at a very young age, I've always been driven to create. As young as 6 years old, you could find me in the basement sculpting away while I watched the taped PBS special performance of "Into the Woods" over and over again till the VHS wore out. After a summer at MICA, I went on to complete a BA at Lafayette College, graduating with honors in my double majors of Art and Music.

My art education included nothing in the fiber arts world, so I didn't start to sew until after graduating and entering the work force as an events planner at Carnegie Mellon. I began sewing by hand, but was soon persuaded to try a sewing machine by my ever-patient, ever-supportive husband. Emboldened by conquering the sewing machine, I sewed apparel, toys, decor and quilts.

Around this time, one of my projects as well as my craft room space was featured in Quilting Arts Studio Magazine - and I did every kind of craft in that craft room. I explored knitting, cross stitch, embroidery, scrap booking, quilling, polymer clay, all the sewing, and more. I sculpted with packing tape and caulk, embellished shoes and skirts, and tried all many of other things. Until 2010, I would have said sewing was the thing that made my soul happiest.

In 2010 I saw a beautiful crocheted blanket at a friend's baby shower and wondered if I could make something like it. After crocheting 50 blankets or so, I expanded to toys, baby booties, hats, apparel and more. After 6 years or so, the crochet stitches started to feel like lego blocks that I could build anything I wanted with. I started to improvise my own patterns, and after enough requests from others to be able to make their own version, I started writing down what I did. I published my first crochet pattern in 2017 and, though it was a lot of work, it was absolutely brilliant fun, too.

After my Dragon pattern went a bit viral, I realized that this is what I could be when I grew up! A crochet pattern designer! It's really mind blowing that I get to play with yarn all day FOR WORK, but it is my absolute dream job and it helps me be able to express all the things my mind makes up in a real tangible way that I can then share with others! My dragon pattern won runner-up in a world-wide amigurumi competition, and now, after 2 years of work, I have 26+ patterns available with no end in sight!

This has fit amazingly well into my life in a much needed way as it allows me to stay home with my two children, my daughter (who is 6) and my son (who is 8). My son is autistic, and he doesn't understand how to keep himself safe. I needed to be home with him, or I needed a flexible enough job that I can be available whenever he needs me. And I am so incredibly lucky to have found this tiny space for myself.

Crocheting feels like home, and I'm so glad I can share my designs with you.

Frequently asked questions
Can I sell what I make from your patterns?

Yes! Provided you are handshaking the items yourself, you can sell anything you make from my patterns. If you list the item online I would appreciate it if you used the language included at the bottom of every pattern page to properly credit me as the designer of the pattern while also acknowledging you are the creator of that object.

How do I make this tricky stitch or follow this tricky technique?

I have YouTube video tutorials available for all of the tricky sections of my patterns. You can find my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTPs8iCVBK1I65FxuMqLJ0Q?view_as=subscriber

Custom and personalized orders

I do not take custom orders at this time, but the good news is that I do permit anyone who owns my patterns to sell what they make, so there are a number of very talented fiber artists on Etsy taking custom orders right now! You can search Etsy for "Crafty Intentions" to find someone now!

I bought the pattern, but I can't find a way to get it, how do I download the file?

After your purchase, Etsy will automatically send you an email with a link to download the pattern. Sometimes this can take a few minutes.

You can also access your downloadable pattern by viewing your previous etsy purchases and in the space where you would be able to view the tracking information for a physical shipped item, you will be able to click to download you pattern file.

If you are still having issues, please message me and I am happy to help you.

I downloaded the wrong language pattern, how do I get the language translation of this pattern that I want?

All translations of the pattern are available to download from the same listing currently. To double check before you purchase that the pattern you are interested in comes in the desirable translation, please check the listing to confirm that the pattern is available in the language you need.

All patterns are available in English. Most are available in German, French and Spanish as well.
