This dragon turned out so well, and the pattern explains everything clearly enough that I could make it even though I'd never made i-cord before.

About

Cute and geeky knit, crochet and craft

Armed with a portable craft studio and whatever materials I've hoarded up for the day CraftyMutt is a slightly unusual little shop.
CraftyMutt has so far never been in one place for more than a few months, and the change in availability of different types of crafts reflects this.

Sometimes there are no good work surfaces, so all crafts are armchair knits or sewing projects done with a machine on the floor. Sometimes there's not enough floorspace for a machine, and so the felting needles come out. Sometimes I have to go where there won't be either of these for a while, so I pack a project or two in yarn and scales in my bag and knit up some gauntlets on transport and in borrowed rooms, and try not to make a mess on anyone else's stuff!

Fortunately, wherever I am or wherever I'm going, scale mail gloves are always good to make, so CraftyMutt focuses on providing them as the core idea of the shop wihile other little bits of sewing, felting and papercraft come and go as they need!

I'm going to try and get some better photos of craft soon, but I'm busy now knitting so these will do for now!

Hi, I'm CraftyMutt, and I love all kinds of craft, especially making my scale mail knits! I really enjoy making all sorts of colour combinations and designs :D When not crafting I'm engineering, costuming, gaming (in all forms) or napping.

Crafty Mutt is pleased to meet you!
I'm here to knit and crochet as much as I can, and send everything out to new loving homes!

Summary - I can only accept paypal, I sell from the United Kingdom, there may be additional customs and fees for you to pay when your item arrives, I use bubble wrap envelopes to keep items safe during delivery and can package a few items together upon multiple purchases. I can go to the post office nearly any day of the week so anything should be posted within a day or so of it being completed. Photos of custom orders are sent before the order is sent off to make sure it's what you want - I won't ship until I've made what you want!
I will give refunds on return of incorrect of damaged items.
I also am willing to discuss completely custom requests via convo if any of the customisable orders don't offer what you want :)

Read on if you would like more detail before you make a purchase!

Payment
Once payment is received I will begin the process of packaging and posting!
For custom orders - the item will be started as soon as I can after payment, and upon completion photos will be sent to you to confirm if you're happy with what has been made. If the item isn't right and you require it to be remade the time required to make the order will be reset (although you'll still be at the front of the queue so to speak), and if an item needs to be completely remade rather than just replaced, the original item will go on sale in the shop for somebody else to buy while I start on the adjusted request.
I only require deposits on custom items organised by convo if it requires purchasing a large amount of material in that are very specific to your order, to cover those costs.
I can only take Paypal.
Shipping
I am a seller from the United Kingdom, please make sure you know this; if you are purchasing from another country as there can be customs and longer delivery times. Be aware of any customs or duty fees which your country may impose on packages of knitted things from the UK, as these will have to be paid by the buyer.

The basic handling and shipping costs you pay on purchase cover the packaging and cost of postage from the UK to your country. It does not, as standard, include insurance and tracking, however I am happy to upgrade the shipping for you on request. The shipping cost is two to three times the basic delivery cost to countries outside the UK, and since it does not speed up the delivery (either option is estimated at 5 working days for America for example) it is only worth it if you really want to watch your parcel wander around customs, or to guarantee full compensation if the item does not arrive (which has never happened yet, but if you want to be extra safe please request before purchase)

From previous customers' experiences, delivery times are expected to be;
For UK - 1-2 working days
For Europe - 2-5 working days
For America - 5-14 working days (customs gets very busy around Christmas)
For elsewhere - 7-21 working days
Any delays in overseas delivery are almost certainly due to customs checking out the strange metallic package coming through and there's nothing I can do about it because it is custom's job to look at unusual parcels, and what I sell is quite unusual!

Items will be packaged in bubble wrap envelopes. I can fit a couple of items in one envelope, so you get a discount for delivery on multiple items in one package. I can also on request add some sort of simple gift wrapping, if you want to request.

I aim to make my packaging nice and protective on the inside for the items, and pleasant for you to open :) be aware that as soft items they may be a little out of shape when they first arrive, but with a little help they should easily return to their usual shape.

I can go to the post office nearly any day of the week so anything should be posted within a day or so of it being completed. If I fail to send delivery confirmation or contact you please convo me to make sure I haven't missed your order due to a technical error!
Refunds and Exchanges
Once an item has been received, if you find it to be an incorrect item or damaged (send photograph please) I will refund the amount you paid for the purchase once the item has been returned to me, the buyer will need to cover any return delivery costs.
Be aware that as soft items they may get a little squashed out of shape on their way, but with a little care they can be helped back to their proper shape; they're not damaged, just a little tired from the travel!

I get proof of postage with every item sent but if your item does not arrive, I am very sorry, but I cannot refund :( fortunately this is rare, and I really hope none of my creatures or creations get lost out there all on their own!

If these two events combine, and an item gets lost in delivery from you back to me, I will still be willing to refund the product if you obtained proof of postage - always ask at the post office!
Additional policies and FAQs
Scale Mail Guarantee - I am very confident in the strength of the yarn and the quality of my knitted scale items, so I am offering a LIFETIME GUARANTEE.
If you find that your gloves (or other scaly item) become so worn through years of use that any scales start to fall off, or are hanging very loose and likely to fall off soon, please contact me with an image of the problem.
If you send the item to me at your cost (address provided when you show me the problem; warning, address changes frequently, do not use an address unless you have been given it specifically for the task) I will re-knit it onto new yarn and send it back to you for ABSOLUTELY FREE.
The yarn will be the best approximation of the original yarn, depending on availability years down the line.

I am willing to take requests for items, or reserve items for a few days if requested.
If you see something you like but would want in a different colour or other small change I will be able to make a special item for you, and convo you when the listing is ready with an image to confirm you still want it, and with approval with list the item for you to purchase. The item will be priced identical to the item it is based on, unless the change is substantial. Completely custom requests are also welcome by convo!

If a request/reservation is made but not purchased or otherwise responded to within a pre-agreed time (default three days from me notifying you, including weekends) then I may choose to remove the reservation and allow anyone to purchase the item.

Some items may be made several times, and I may use photographs of one of them for all their listings. Please allow for the fact that these are handmade, and that there may be slight shape and colour differences in your item to the photo.
I generally like to show photographs of each one specifically though because I like you to see exactly who you are offering your home to :)
