About

Living My Dream

At first my love of seashells and shellcraft had me making gifts for all my friends and family. I didn't have to purchase any gifts and I was doing something I loved. Then someone said, "You should sell these". So, I made up a few items and off to the shell shops I went. Selling to large shell shops was not easy. I couldn't seem to ever get to the person in charge of buying. I was very discouraged. So, I put the idea on hold.

A few years later I discovered Etsy, and then, Crafty Shells was born. I didn't have much time to invest in my business. I was busy raising my family. I had just a few things listed, which meant I was only making a few sales. I was also selling at craft fairs from time to time. But, I still was not totally invested in my business, it was more like a hobby.

Last year my youngest child graduated, now all of a sudden I see things in a different light, I have extra time. Time to invest in my business, time for the things I love to do, it was now time for me to shine! I started off slow, I do still have a regular job, but all of my spare time is pretty much spent working on Crafty Shells. The more time I spend working on my business, the better my sales get, and the more I learn.

The best part is I really enjoy doing this, so it is like I am living my dream. My goal is to get this business doing well enough for me to be able to quit my day job. I know that day is coming and it will be awesome!

    I have always lived close to the coast. So, beachcombing has been almost a daily activity for me. Since I was very young, I have been collecting seashells and creating shellcrafts. I am living my dream.

I am sorry, but, the law does not allow me to ship seashells internationally without a permit and a freight broker. Please read section below;

ALL wildlife products require US Fish & Wildlife Service permits for INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS.

The term 'wildlife product' is applicable to all real animal bones, skulls, taxidermy, insects, live plants, insect candy or snack, seashells, or any animal in resin or jars.

These shipments may be sent using a freight broker for customs clearance and we estimate that the cost of shipping most wildlife products internationally will be at least $250. If the wildlife product is also listed on CITES (see below), an additional permit processing fee of $165 may also apply.
