Simple Sophistication...

I strive to make clean, elegant forms for everyday use or for that wonderful display piece in your home.

We all need those moments of calm and the opportunity to slow down. That is what I hope my work will provide for people.

I have participated in several art fairs around Kansas City and St. Louis over the last few years on a part time basis while teaching classes at Craft Alliance and Forest Park community college in St. Louis. We recently relocated back to Kansas City after living in Muncie, Indiana. Currently, I am teaching a beginning/intermediate wheel throwing class at the Kansas City Clay Guild.

Rachel Akin received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1999 and MFA from Ohio University in 2006. She has completed residencies at Red Star Studios in Kansas City and Craft Alliance in St. Louis.
