About

Crafting with clay makes my day!

Welcome!
My name is Melanie, I am a polymer clay millefiori cane artist.
I am self taught in this wonderful medium of polymer clay.
I started selling my work online to help my family, my son is Autistic and required me to be a stay at home Mom, I am so proud of all the little steps my boy has over come and achieved but I needed something for myself and here it is, my little clay corner I bring to you all today.
I hope you enjoy creating some fantastic one of a kind items from my cane work.
From my hands & heart to yours.

Additional policies and FAQs
****Helpful reducing tips****
PLEASE DO NOT try and reduce a cold cane, it can crack and destroy the cane.
Warm up the cane in the palm of your hands holding it gently for about 10 minutes, once warm slightly begin to move the cane pressing it gently with your fingers to see if there is movement to the clay. By holding each end of the cane give small, slight twists in opposite direction to get the clay moving once the cane seems to have a nice movement that flows freely and doesn't resist can you start the reduction process. Slowly and gently squeeze the cane from the middle of the section and pinch and press inwards, work your way out to the ends of the cane and repeat. Do not roll on a table until you are done reducing. Once at the size you require, you can roll gently on a flat surface to smooth out finger prints if necessary. Allow to cool again before slicing (fridge or freezer works well to stiffen clay quickly)

****CURRENTLY NOT TAKING CUSTOM/REQUESTED ORDERS****
Custom Cane Policies:
Some Custom canes may require a non refundable down payment before I can start an order.

I do accept custom orders, but I may need to recreate an item which can take a week or so, so please allow time for me to recreate the piece you are looking for.
Re-creating an item could result in variations from an original due to everything being handmade. No two items will ever be exactly the same so please allow for variation from the original.

I do not create canes that consist of a Trademarked item. Although I may be able to create a design of my own with the colors you are seeking.

Certain Custom canes may not be profitable for myself as there is always a lot of extra that comes with the caning process, so I will offer you what I can create so we can both be happy.

Please remember that these are made out of clay and is an extreme process in complex caning, lines are quite hard to keep straight with the reduction of the canes, I have confidence in my ability to make the best item I can the first time.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

I currently am not taking any custom requests, although I may re-create canes that I already have made in a different color for you.

Sizing details

All sizes of my canes are in each listing, as each cane is reduced by hand please allow for slight variances.

How do I reduce my cane?

For a more detailed answer please look in my additional info and FAQ's for tips on reducing canes. A quick answer is to always warm the cane first (body heat is good) as not warming the clay could split the cane in the middle of the design. Slowly press from the middle of the cane outwards, repeat until desired size is achieved, rolling the cane could distort the image.

Do you sell raw or baked canes?

I only sell my canes in raw form, but if you are seeking nail art canes, these can be reduced and baked to be used for nail art.
