Sundial Arts is one facet of a multi-sided family gem-stone. It is a culture more than a business. An idea more than a product. It is a means, an end, and a path.

The story started in 2009; on the brighter side of a shadow-mottled tale. Art and activism, love and family... the 24 hour a day jobs were taking a back burner to our day jobs. Labor and dysfunctional social scenarios were stifling the creative and inspiring. I needed opportunity to adorn my life with what I felt within, to illustrate what was in my heart and to try my best to honor what I appreciated in nature through pen and fiber art. I needed to make time and save energy for my beautiful children, my demanding urban homestead and my activist work. An alternative was imperative to the survival of my spirit.

Enter the Sundial- I am very crafty, living for making things with my hands. I dabble in screen printing, carpentry, animal husbandry, gardening, felting, knitting, crocheting and seamstressry. I have taken a leap of faith and am now putting my energies into making these passions my employment. Critical Eggplant was a collaboration of Sunny Lindley and Justin Devecka and printed it's first shirt in 2010 in the pantry in my Southern Oregon home. Creating art in view of the gardens and hens. That shirt came straight from a second hand store; as did most of the shirts that we printed in our first year. We had a great reception locally and were able to invest in our first batch of new Organic Cotton t shirts. We discovered Etsy.com shortly there-after. As of 2012 we were working for ourselves full time. Today, Sundial Arts Apparel (formerly Critical Eggplant) is one of my day jobs alongside my urban farm , Angora rabbitry and my second fiber arts Etsy shop sundialarts.etsy.com. I spend much of my time in the spring and summer traveling the west coast of the US vending festivals and fairs and exploring every river and lake i can stop at. I am living my dream.

As of 2015 Sundial Arts has 23 designs in circulation and has created many others for businesses from Boston to Hawaii. Justin Devecka designs custom images for Permaculture farms and album covers and beyond under the name Vernal Art.
