About
Vegetables and Feathers
My husband and I have a small homestead called Crooked Coop Farm. We raise our own chickens, sheep and in the summer months we sell organic vegetables at local farmers markets. This homesteading life is relatively new to us, we have only been doing it a few years, but art has been my passion my entire life.
After we began homesteading I wanted to find a way to incorporate our lifestyle into my artwork, that is where Crooked Feather Studio began. I wanted to keep the homestead aspect of our life while adding my own artistic presence. I did this by bringing our surroundings into my work, from feathers to wildlife I use whatever I find. Living with nature comes instinctively to me it inspires the rustic paintings and hand lettered signs you will find in my shop.
My workplace is currently wherever I find room to make it in our house. I have cabinets and shelves of art supplies kept near the kitchen table and in the basement where I can access it in between the homeschool and naps of our 4 children. One day I dream on having a rustic cabin-like studio built on our property. but in the meantime my "floating studio" fits my schedule just fine.
