It has been a long time since I updated this section. So much has happened to us all in the world with its fight against Covid. In the UK we are also adapting to the changes caused by Brexit.

Sadly, due to the changes in sending mail to Europe, even though we mark our orders with the necessary coding, we are aware that some orders to Europe are being held in Customs or further charges are being made to the customer. This is beyond our control. If we place orders for items from a European supplier we too are being additionally charged so we are now unable to stock some brands as it is unfeasible as it would mean adding on an additional amount to the fabric cost. Therefore I have made the decision to stop sending packages outside of the UK. I had already stopped sending to the USA and Rest of the World prior to Covid, but now due to the fall out from leaving the EU (which I did not agree should happen), I am having to stop sending to Europe. One recent customer has given me a poor review, even though it is beyond my control.

Since last editing this section, the Crookilley family have experienced the loss of my mother, an amazing lady who has been an inspiration not only to me, her grandchildren, my sister and her sons in law, but after teaching for 40 years she touched so many people's lives. It was through mum that I began crafting as a young child, following in the footsteps of my grandmother, her mum, who like me, owned a wool, haberdashery and fabric shop. As mum lived with us, it has been very hard adapting to her loss. I'm still struggling. But I know that I did everything I could to make her final months comfortable, despite her Alzheimers condition.

At the time of writing this, my father, isn't too good and in hospital on the other side of Manchester, so its now ill, so my husband and I are trying to help him as much as we can. Looking after elderly parents is much harder than looking after young children! Thankfully my grown up children help where they can. But it is hard being a carer and trying to run a business and fit in life, when I am also grieving.

However I have found some 'me' time recently by sewing. I lock myself away in my sewing room, music or TV in the background and my machines transforming pieces of fabric into bunting, dog bandanas, cushions, and many other items. Crafting is my feel good activity.

Have you noticed that we have put a SALE on some our fabrics? Get them now.

Over the next week more fabrics will be listed including Star Wars, The Mandalorian, Marvel and DC, some nursery fabrics, floral, Laura Ashley collection, Army vehicles and more .... Do keep checking.

I often get enquiries when I'll be getting more fabric in for one they have previously purchased but now not available. For most of our fabric stockists, I select what I wish to buy, and the stockists buy in what their customers in the UK want. They do not hold much stock for us to replenish. Especially recently with everyone making facemasks they haven't had much in their warehouses. What I stock is what I have, and once sold out, its gone and cannot be reordered. Only brands like Nutex and Rico tend to reprint popular designs.

So do not hold back from ordering, if there is anything you like, it could be in a short time I won't have anything left.

If you want any haberdashery items - things like threads, elastic, buttons, wool from Sirdar, Rico and Stylecraft - look at our Facebook page as we've listed all our wools. Don't forget accessories like scissors, needles etc. I can send you a photo for you to choose from.

Thanks to everyone who has reviewed the shop. I do try so hard to maintain the 5 star reviews I get. My philosophy has always been to treat people how I would expect to be treated. Some mistakes do happen - rarely, but we are all human.

If there is anything you would like us to make from our fabrics then please do ask. Some of the items I can make are listed for sale, but each one is made up exclusively for you.

Thank you for your continuing sales from our shop. We have many regular shoppers and our reviews show how we like to build a relationship with you. We are only a small family business so having the shop closed for a lot of 2020 and 2021 has been very hard.

About CrookilleyCrafts

Sales 11,339
On Etsy since 2012

We're a bit Quirky at Crookilley

My shop started after I needed an outlet for the many items I'd made whilst suffering from a mental health illness. Through the support from a very dear friend I realised that I could use my items as a way of raising funds for a dog rescue charity we were both involved with. Just as I started selling my items at a local Craft event my friend suddenly and unexpectely passed away in August 2012.

I knew I had to continue with what we'd started so since the summer 2012 I have attended more events and then decided to sell online as a way of sharing my items with more people. I started on Ebay and am now looking at more specialist areas so Etsy is a good start.

I am a HUGE fan of Adam Ant and punk/goth/indie/alternative music so I am inspired by anything Goth and funky. I also love wildlife and nature, and being a dog owner of 3 little dogs, I have a range of dog accessories too.

What I make is inspired by the actual fabric. I know exactly what I will make from pieces of fabric. Owning Crookilley Crafts Emporium in Bramhall has widened my makes as I will make almost anything what my customers want.

I have so many ideas of what to make that sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day.

I hope you like my items. I will be adding more items as time goes on. All are individually made and unique. If you see something but want it in a different colour or texture - JUST ASK.

Since my childhood I've had needles, brushes and tools in my hands. I love wool and fabrics but paint too. I opened my own shop Crookilley Crafts Emporium in Bramhall, Stockport UK over 2 years ago, a perfect shop for me to be creative.
