Announcement   WELCOME TO CROW CORNER PRIMITIVES!!

These are just a few of my hand-crafted items! I specialize in rustic hand-painted Barn Quilts, primitive signs, painted shaker-style furniture and other primitive home decor. All of my items are handmade in my barn workshop in rural Wisconsin.

I'll try to answer FAQ's about my barn quilts here.....

BARN QUILTS: Available here in three styles... 2' Small Frame ($79.50 + $17.95 s&h), 2' Thick Frame ($89.50 + $21.95 s&h) and 3' Thick Frame ($139.50 + $45 s&h). Larger sizes (4'-8') are also available, however anything larger than 5' is for local pickup only. Small Frames are 3/4" pine nailed to the edges of quilt. Thick frames are 1 1/4" pine routed with a groove to enclose the edges of the quilt. All frames are finished black unless custom requested differently. All of my quilts are painted with a black border IN ADDITION to the frame, as it is my signature look. The width of the border is directly determined by the quilt pattern and the size of quilt, which is why it appears different in each photo. PLEASE message me if you have any questions regarding color, frames, etc. I will gladly send more pictures! I am also happy to do custom quilt patterns as well. Just send me a custom request!

MATERIALS: All of my Barn Quilts are painted on either 1/2" or 5/8" sanded surface plywood. (I don't use exterior grade plywood due to the extremely rough surface.) They are painted using 2-3 coats of Premium Exterior Latex paints with primer (Behr Ultra Premium, because I LOVE their colors!!) USUALLY followed by distressing and a dark stain (this adds to the "aged look"). I then offer 4 finishes at no extra charge:
INSIDE HANGING:
If the barn quilt is to be hung inside, either just the stained matte finish, or one coat of satin or matte finish urethane is all that's needed.
OUTSIDE HANGING: Each type of finish has it's own pros and cons... And please note that as with all wood outside in the elements, it IS going to weather eventually.
1) No Urethane: This lets the quilt weather on it's own, naturally. No shadows or glare from the sunlight on the finish.
2) 2 Coats of Water-Based Exterior Urethane in a Satin finish. Water-based urethane dries crystal clear and has virtually no "ambering" with age, however, occasionally there may be a slight milky look to the surface if there has been prolonged exposure to rain/moisture, but this usually dries clear again. Quilts will still weather eventually, but can be recoated from time to time.
3) 2 coats of Oil-Based Exterior Urethane. Oil-Based Urethane offers slightly better protection from elements, however, age can cause "ambering", which can make some lighter colors become darker, and the weathering to become more noticeable.
Please note your finish preference in the "Message to Seller" section upon placing your order. Feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns!

TURNAROUND TIME: Since all of my items are custom " made to order" at the time of order, please allow 3-4 weeks for production and delivery. (Can be 4-6 weeks during busy holiday season.) Many times it will be sooner, however orders will be filled in the order they were received. I do the barn quilts in batches (usually 10-15 at a time) and it usually takes roughly 2 weeks from start to completion for a batch. Occasionally, I have items available for immediate delivery, and it will be noted as such at the top of the listing. Please contact me BEFORE placing order if there is a time crunch. Every effort will be made to get your order out in a timely manner, however, sometimes there are delays beyond my control.

RETURN POLICY: Every effort is made to insure my quilts are as pictured, however sometimes things happen, item arrives damaged, colors aren't as expected, etc... IF ITEM ARRIVES DAMAGED customer must take pictures of damage, box and item AND save all packaging, for a claim to be filed with shipping company. Without this information, a claim cannot be filed.

I also want customers love my quilts as much as I do, but if customer is dissatisfied with item, I will gladly refund purchase price and shipping upon receipt of returned item. Please note that return shipping will not be reimbursed unless item was damaged upon receipt and claim has been filed. If you have concerns regarding colors, finishes, etc. Please just ask before you purchase!! I want my customers to love my quilts as much as I love making them!! Thanks!

ALSO NOTE: There will be a cut-off date for orders that can be guaranteed in time for Christmas Delivery. All orders received after the cut-off date will be done and shipped mid to late January as I close down my workshop to enjoy the holidays. If items are purchased as gifts, I will be happy to send a "Your Gift is on the way" Card, and as always, Gift Certificates are available!

Feel free to check out more of my signs and updates on my facebook page at www.facebook.com/crowcornerprimitives.

Happy Etsy-ing!! Have a great day!

About

Crow Corner Primitives is a One-Woman Workshop!

I started in wood-working about 30 years ago, by having an annual craft show in the fall with my mom. Starting with just a little band saw and a scroll saw, I cut out, painted and assembled all items myself. It didn't take long for it to morph into building shaker-style furniture, and even though the tools got bigger, I still did all the work myself. I always told people that I got my talent for working with wood from my grandfather! (The cleaning up my workshop and putting my tools away, came from my grandmother!!)

Originally from Iowa, I spent many years working in the banking/accounting fields, but my heart has always been in the workshop. I briefly lived in Lexington, MO, and I had a taste of having my own little retail shop, which is where Crow Corner was born.

I married and relocated to Wisconsin, where we live on a small acreage. My husband loves to help out in the workshop, too, so together we make quite a team! We've set up a workshop in the garage part of the old milk barn and got to work. Now, my husband has started a hobby in melting and casting aluminum! (Look for some of his items to be listed here soon!!) Aside from the workshop, we have chickens (and yes, I built their coop!) and added a garden and now I look forward to the possibility of having my own store here on the property some time in the future. Life is good and the future looks bright for Crow Corner Primitives!!

I have been working with wood for almost 30 years, first dabbling in wood crafts then building custom shaker-style furniture as well. I love the challenge of working on custom pieces and love coming up with new ideas!
