Custom, Specialty Macarons

Shanna & Dakota met in a small bakery in Winchester, Virginia. After working together for a year & the sad news that the shop they worked at was closing, they decided to head out on their own to make the things they loved most: cookies!
With the support of their families, friends, & valued customers from the bake shop, they opened Crumbs & Crumbles. They now cater to each customer to make sure their design & desire show through each macaron, cake, or dessert.
All the items in their shop are handmade from scratch with quality ingredients. Each order is given time for great attention to detail and is packed with care.

Over 3 years in business, Shanna & Dakota are thrilled to share their art with you.

Frequently asked questions
What if my macarons arrive broken?

French Macarons are very fragile by nature, therefore some light breakage may occur during shipment. We do our best to pack them carefully so they do not break during shipping, but we cannot guarantee postal workers will be as careful with your package. To ensure the product arrives in optimal condition, we take special precautions: each macaron is snug tight in separate padded gable boxes that are surrounded with an abundance of other paddings such as air bags, bubble-wrap, and packaging peanuts. Once they are out of our hands, we cannot be responsible for how they are handled by the shipper.

How does shipping work?

To ensure the freshest macarons possible, we use USPS Priority Mail which takes about 2-5 business days to arrive to you once its been shipped, unless you choose an expedited shipping option during checkout. Please note that your package may be delayed once in transit due to COVID and other carrier delays. We DO NOT refund due to shipping delays.

If choosing Express shipping, your package is guaranteed by USPS to arrive within 1-2 days AFTER shipping. By choosing Express shipping you are NOT choosing an expedited processing time.
The processing time DOES NOT CHANGE. Please take notice to the shipping date estimates given to you below each listing.

Care instructions

Macarons are best kept in the refrigerator or freezer. They will last a week or more in your refrigerator or 1 month in the freezer in an airtight container. For optimal freshness consume product within 1 week of shipping date; however, cookies are still edible if kept at room temperature (or below) during shipping and arrival.

To ensure your macarons stay in optimal condition, bring package indoors out of the elements immediately upon arriving. Please read care instructions included. Place macaron boxes in the refrigerator or freezer AS SOON AS THEY ARRIVE to you.
Prior to serving, macarons should be thawed in the refrigerator or left at room temperature for a short time to soften the buttercream.

Can I cancel or change my order?

You can cancel your order within 24 hours of placing it. Please send us a message if you wish to cancel or update your order as quickly as possible following your order to request.

*COVID-19 CANCELLATION POLICY as of 3/16/2020:

Due to the mass amount of cancellations surrounding events, our policy for orders due to the pandemic is as follows:

We need AT LEAST 5 DAYS notice BEFORE your expected SHIPPING DATE to cancel your order. Every order is custom & made-to-order; therefore, we CANNOT accept cancellation notices past that date. If you or you decide to cancel your order after the 5 days prior to shipping, we will NOT be issuing refunds for the product. We are happy to refund all shipping costs if the product has not yet been shipped.

What if my package arrives later than requested?

We ship all of our packages with USPS Priority Mail, which has a 1-4 business day window of delivery to ensure packages spend as little time in transport as possible. If you request an event date, we ship as close to your event date as possible with that 4-day Priority Shipping window in mind to ensure freshness of the product when it arrives.
Priority Mail USUALLY arrives in the 1-4 business day window; however, it IS NOT GUARANTEED. No packages are guaranteed by the USPS by a certain date unless it is Priority Express (1 Day Shipping), which we can provide for our customers if requested and the extra fare is paid for the extra shipping cost.
We cannot guarantee the Post Office will deliver your package in the 1-4 business days.

Can I request Overnight Shipping?

Macarons have a better survival rate if they spend less days in transport. Priority Express 1-Day Shipping ensures that once we ship your package, it will arrive by the next business day by 3PM.
Priority Express 1-Day Shipping requires an additional fare than our standard Priority Shipping; so send us a message if you would like to request this shipping option.
Processing time for your macarons will STILL be the same as stated in the listing.
Overnight shipping DOES NOT effect processing time.

How do you ensure freshness of the macaron?

Our macaron are made to order, and we ship within a day of completing the order. Once shipped, macaron are shelf stable for several days. We always ship USPS Priority mail, which arrives *typically* within 4 days after shipping. We also recommend customers bring the package indoors out of the heat immediately upon arriving, and put the macaron boxes straight into the fridge or freezer. And we always include care instructions. Once in the fridge or freezer, their shelf life is extended for a week or more (in the fridge), or up to a month in the freezer.

Do the macaron come individually wrapped?

Our macaron are not and cannot be bagged separately. We package them together wrapped in bubble wrap in small boxes so they arrive as unscathed as possible due to their fragile nature. But we do include instructions on the best way to individually bag/box them for favors.

Are macaron GLUTEN FREE?

Yes, macaron are naturally gluten-free as they are made with almond flour.
However, our cookies & cream buttercream flavor is NOT gluten free.
But everything else contains NO WHEAT.

Levels of allergy severity vary, so you should know we are not a certified gluten-free kitchen. We do our best to limit any kind of cross contamination, but we cannot guarantee it as we do use wheat flour in our other products.

Do you ship to APO/FPO/DPO/AE?

Although we support our troops, we cannot ship our macaron out of the country. As macaron are a perishable item, they cannot be in transit for longer than a few days. Therefore, we only ship domestically. Also the longer macaron are in transit, the more likely they will break as they are extremely fragile. We only want the best product possible to arrive at your door!

If we receive an order for an international military base address, we will unfortunately have to cancel it.
