Purchased these after such a successful harvest of the yellow pear cherry tomatoes last year, and the kids loved those ones! Our family has been fortunate to have found Cubits and we hope to learn some seed saving this season to keep the heirloom varieties stocked up. Your investments in this shop and in your garden are solid ones!

This was a splurge purchase, except for the content seeds which, of course, were needed. These same Cubits items were planted last year and, ohhh, have you tried the heirloom lettuce mix and the colourful carrots?! DeLICious! The special little tin will be used to store seeds that we hopefully save this season (our first year of seed saving!), and a reminder of our gratitude for the partners we chose to feed our family. Thank you, Laura and Ryan for bringing Cubits to the rest of us!

Started indoors this evening and will be ready for transplant right.on.time. What a perfect day to be in receipt after a depressing late March snowfall. Spirit renewed!

Substitute for Delicata Winter Squash and couldn't be happier! If you enjoy butternut like we do, you will be thrilled to have delicata to serve this year! Ask for it!

Second year these yellow pear cherry tomatoes will grow in our garden! The children frequently raided the plot for these little gems and stored them in their pockets for hiking snacks. It doesn't get any better than that! I knew seed market season was upon Laura & Ryan, and practiced a bit of patience until they returned to their homestead to package orders for us "from away" folks. They didn't disappoint! Thanks so much from all of us!

About

Cubit's Ethical Seeds for Edible Gardens

Welcome to Cubit's. We sell high quality, organically grown, rare and heirloom seeds for home vegetable gardens.

We believe that everyone can grow their own delicious organic produce and love helping families grow their own food. We split our time between urban gardens in the city of Kingston & our small farm in picturesque Prince Edward County.

{ who we are }

We are Laura and Ryan and Cubit's is what happens when you combine art and design backgrounds with a passion for eating local and growing edibles. We work along side our children.

Cubit's started in our own back yard of a rented apartment in downtown Toronto where our mascot, Hazel, frequently dug up our gardens. After growing into several city yards, both our own and volunteered by friends and family we recently broke ground on a beautiful Ontario farm.

{ our name }

Cubit’s takes it’s name both from our family tree and a historical Toronto market farmer named Cubit Sparkhall. He owned a large piece of land in East End Toronto, approximately where Withrow Park is now. Cubit was uniquely named after the cubit, an ancient measurement once used to measure building materials and small amounts of land; a cubit is about 18 inches, measured from the tip of your thumb to your elbow.

{ our seeds and the environment }

Our seed is all organically grown and untreated, much of it by ourselves with a few choice seed varieties coming from certified organic farms. We are Monsanto, Seminis and GMO free. Our seeds are Open Pollinated. We love talking seeds and have taken the safe seed pledge.

Cubit's is committed to using environmentally friendly practices in all aspects of our business operations and general day to day life. We use recycled packaging, non toxic glues, all of our printed matter is on recycled paper and we emphasize local suppliers.

In addition to our environmental commitments, Cubit's guarantees both the quality of our seed and your satisfaction. Our seeds are carefully inspected and hand packed into recycled envelopes, complete with planting instructions.
