I am an artist and a baker. I love making royal icing decorations. I'm here to share my ideas and handmade decorations with you.
Everything in my shop is handmade by me! In 2010 both of my sisters were pregnant and started craving cupcakes. With a culinary and fine art background I was the perfect person to oblige them. Soon the creative side of making and decorating cupcakes fascinated me - thus CakeArt by Christy came to be.
Decorating turned out to be my favorite part. I wanted every part of the treat to be handmade by myself so I started experimenting with royal icing and creating my own toppers. My Etsy shop opened shortly after to help share my creations with others who didn't know how or didn't have the time to make there own. Please enjoy browsing my shop, I hope you find something you like!
Royal icing is made of sugar, meringue powder and water, which dries into a hard, crunchy candy. These are great to order ahead of time as items store for years if kept dry and away from light. A cabinet or pantry is perfect.
Apply your royal icing decorations as close to serving time as possible when using buttercream icing or any high moisture item, as it will absorb the oils and liquid.
Orders will take 5 business days (M-F) to ship after payment has cleared. If you need them more quickly, please contact me, for 20% Rush Fee option and/or Priority Mail Services.
Please check with me if you'd like a different quantity or a special request. Prices will depend on the flower type and how many colors you'd like. Please send me your idea for an estimate.

The glitter used for making "Sparkling" Decorations is listed as "For Decoration Only" but is approved by the FDA for consumption in small amounts.
The description states:
"These beautiful and bright glitters will enhance and add great sparkle to any of your projects. Great to sprinkle dry or add to icing or fondant while wet for a more concentrated sparkle. They are classified as "non-toxic for decoration only" so they are best suited to decorate items that can easily be removed from the cake."
The glitter is very fine and I use it lightly, but I'd be happy to make any item without glitter or a different sugar pearl. Choice of "glitter" or "no glitter" available at checkout.
The Metallic Dragees are also classified as "For Decoration Only."

Cupcake Baker turned Royal Icing Confection Creator
CakeArt by Christy began in 2010 when I started making cupcakes for my family and friends. Coming from a culinary/ fine art background I wanted to create every aspect of the cupcake from scratch, I then began experimenting with royal icing decorations. The original idea for my Etsy shop was to offer cupcake kits complete with everything to make a particular cupcake design, excluding the icing and cake. Over time the decorations won out so now I primarily focus on royal icing flowers and toppers. Save time and add a professional touch to your next dessert with these handmade lovelies. Refunds are done on a case by case basis. Please contact me with any problems.
If you have an excess of broken items please take a photo of the items and the entire packaging and send it to me when letting me know of the mishap. This way I can better assess what happened and learn how to ship better in the future. Thanks for understanding. I will not refund any money without a photo.

CUSTOM ORDERS: All custom orders ( brand new item, not already in my shop) will require a $20 design fee. Once the fee is paid I will present the idea with an example photo and price estimate within 1-2 weeks. 12 piece minimum per design item.
