About cupofjoytea
Why Do I Love Tea? Let Me Count the Ways!
Welcome to the Cup of Joy!
It is exciting to be able to share the teas I love. All of them exquisite, delicious and clean. The teas and botanicals offered are carefully selected from small organic and biodynamic farms. Those that are not able to certify organic by QAI, but are from environmentally responsible farms, are 3rd party tested for cadmium, arsenic and lead. Products will never be offered to you that I wouldn't drink myself.
Why do I love tea? It's one of the ways I feed my soul and honor my body. Tea begins the start of every morning and the end of every day. It is also the way to connect with my daughter. We have been enjoying tea time since she was 3 yrs old and she's now 20. Hunting for afternoon tea spots where ever we travel is one of our favorite activities. Tea is also the way to connect with many of my dear friends...the perfect opportunity to slow down and be present to one another.
Having a culinary and food science background makes it fun for me to experiment with tea in recipes and in tea blending. When I am not tasting or blending tea, I am teaching all types of culinary classes in Woodbury, MN. Stay tuned......recipes with the use of tea are coming!
All tea (white, green, oolong and black) comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. Studies show tea contains antioxidants in the form of tea polyphenols, including epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), epigallocatechin (EGC), and others. In many studies, particularly with green tea, that suggest polyphenols may prevent, or even reverse, certain types of cellular damage in the body by neutralizing other oxidative molecules. This action could mitigate degenerative conditions such as hypertension and certain cancers. Polyphenols are found in a wide variety of plant foods, including tea, red wine, dark chocolate, olive oil, and berries; all my favorites. So which tea is the best tea to drink?
All tea that is clean!
Tea is sacred to many cultures. It is healthy to body and soul. I am grateful and honor those men and women who hand pick the buds and leaves in the fields, who process the tea, toasting, rolling or infusing the leaves to become my favorite Dragonwell, Yunnan Royale Gold or Tropical Coconut Oolong. And to the Tea Master who discerns when it is time to release it to the world for myself and others to enjoy.
Lastly, you might have noticed the hummingbird on my logo. It is my favorite little guy and a symbol of good luck. In the Native American culture, it also means Joy. I hope you will feel a little joy with every cup you drink.
To Your Well Being!
Joy
