About CuppaStitches
Happily Creating
My love for crochet began a few years ago when I had an urge to learn a new craft. Since I'm lucky if I can chew gum while walking, I wasn't sure if knitting, which involved 2 needles, was the way to go.
I visited a local craft store. I bought a "Learn to Crochet" kit and some yarn. I skimmed through the book and said, "I can do this!" I could make a wicked foundation chain that went on and on. And on. But that's all I could figure out.
Long story short and many, many how-to videos later, I finally figured out to make more than a long chain. Full of excitement, I began to scour newly found pattern websites so I could make something for my kids. Something cute they would love forever. I found a pattern for a stuffed pig. Knowing how much my daughter loved pink I set out to complete my very first project.
What should have been a cute, 4-inch tall stuffed pig turned out to be a huge wad of stuffing that looked like is was covered in pink netting. Four years later she still loves that pig, but needless to say, it was an epic fail in my book.
Over the next few months I practiced and practiced some more and finally, it clicked! Christmas gifts for friends and family that year were nothing but crochet ornaments, blankets and various home decor items.
I have made many things for family and friends since I first taught myself to crochet four years ago. In April of 2013 I realized two things. I was running out of things to make for loved ones and I was finding patterns for things that none of them could use. This is when I finally decided to open my own shop shop on Etsy. I chose the name Cuppa Stitches because each and every project is done a cuppa (couple of) stitches at a time. That and I'm rarely seen without a cuppa coffee!
And so begins the next chapter of my crocheting adventures!
