Curly Fern. Small ceramic clay houses wrought by hand.

I chanced upon making ceramic clay items sort of by accident. A potter friend taught me some basics about clay and gave me a bunch of underglazes and a huge bucket of clear glaze. She even gave me a deal on a little kiln. The more I worked with this fabulous new medium, what kept appearing was mostly miniature houses. Somehow I couldn't get myself away from miniature doors, windows, chimneys, and shutters--and all the other tiny details that I love to put on my houses.

Like most people, the word "home" evokes memories from the past and hopes for the future. And that's what I like to put into all the miniature bungalows, cottages, villas, chalets, chateaux, and fairy garden mushroom houses that I make.

    My shop is small so I wear a bazillion hats. Everything is made from my original designs. I form the pieces, fire them, take photos, upload images, interact with customers, ship packages. My husband has a great eye and helps with design decisions.

Curly Fern Ceramics is a small operation in Asheboro, USA. We make a variety of small ceramic clay items including miniature houses, kiln-fired ceramic clay jewelry, aromatherapy pendants, and coasters.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:

We are not responsible for damage or loss caused in shipping. If there are obvious issues with the product, however, of course we will issue a refund! Communication in a timely manner is key-- so if you discover an issue, let us know as soon as possible so we can start working on a solution. A happy customer every time is our goal.
Payment must be made within 2 days of purchase. If you have some reason to be late, please let us know so we can talk about other options. It is important to us that we are prompt for our customers and we appreciate it when our customers are, too!
Our goal is to ship packages either the day of the order or the next day. During the 2020 holiday season, we achieved this goal and we plan to continue reducing our ship time to attempt to offset any delayed deliveries experienced by our overloaded postal system.

We use the US Postal Service simply because it's simple. We will do shipping upgrades, if you choose. If you want a shipping upgrade, since many of our shipping prices are fixed rates, please let me know before you purchase.

If you want your order insured, let us know before you pay for it. The buyer pays for added insurance (Priority Mail is automatically insures for $50). Since we ship First Class Mail for many of our tiny items, you may want to buy insurance.

If you want shipping confirmation, we can add it. Like insurance, the buyer pays for signature confirmation.
