Announcement    Just a potter playing with mud and fire to bring imagination to life. Unique vases, wine stoppers, creatures, bowls, bottles & more, handmade in Vermont!

I've been enjoying pottery since 2000 when I sat down at a wheel with a lump of clay and rediscovered the joy of creation. Since then I've been learning to twist clay, fire, and glazes into my own unique expressions.

My jartifact series started with learning a technique for creating jars with very tight fitting lids, and changed into a quest to make objects that felt ancient and out of time and place. I don't actually want to part with any of them, but that's also my favorite sign that I've created something I can be proud of.

You'll also find my wine stoppers and Curly Creatures. Whimsical little things, each creature is thrown on a wheel, carefully pulled off to add a tail, then hand-modified to add fins, legs, scales... anything you or I can imagine! Stoppers are similar, but totally handbuilt. I try to give each piece its own personality, but all almost always get a smile from people who see them. "So cute!" "I love it - what *is* it?"

I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I do.

Making fun out of mud!

I've been a Vermont potter since 2000, working with stoneware - its a terrific outlet for me to be able to make something solid. My most recent project are jars of various types, decorated to look like artifacts from a different time and place.

Previously, back in 2010 one creation led to another, until I had a little, random, curly-tailed creature in front of me. It made people smile, and laugh, and ask questions... so more of those were born, and then I started looking for a more functional outlet. Since I love wine, I decided to go with wine stoppers - and am happy to say I'm proud of what I've created. (It takes a lot to say that - I'm a pretty picky guy.)

In the meantime, enjoy looking around, and please don't hesitate to ask me any questions you have!
