About

Laughter is the Best Medicine

In the summer of 2015 my husband fell ill and was quickly diagnosed with end stage kidney failure. As you can imagine our world was turned upside down and we have, in a relatively short period of time, put to the test the vows "in sickness and in health".

As our lives settled into a new routine of dialysis, diets, and doubts, I needed to find an outlet for some of the newfound stresses. Crafting has always been therapeutic for me and as our family runs on bad jokes, sarcasm and puns, it wasn't long before I discovered a love for drawing punny cartoons.

I opened an Etsy shop at the beginning of 2016 and over the months I have been improving my style and my perfecting my brand. I watched my shop grow in size and popularity and before long I realised that I was in a good enough position to give a little something back.

Designing and selling cards has been such a great diversion from the darker moments of my husband's disease that I figured I should pass on some of that positivity by donating to a kidney disease charity. I chose Kidney Research UK as they already do such amazing work and I hope that by giving them a portion of my sales, I can help them continue to support other people like my husband, and their families, through what is literally a life-changing diagnosis.

They say laughter is the best medicine; I just hope my cards can help that become a reality in some small way.

Enjoy :-)

I have a day job. I'm also wife & mum. I am BUSY. But there was something missing. At the end of 2015 I was asked "What makes you happy?" and I said "My family and making things." There wasn't enough of the latter going on... and so cushobi was born.
