I got a little confused at first, so read the instructions before starting haha. Once I did that, it was clear what I needed to do and I'm looking forward to seeing the end result

soto sewn is the process of one person's journey through stitching

My name is Maritza, and I started sewing in 2006, when I came across Denyse Schmidt's first book at a Barnes and Noble in New York. From there, I went on to discover the world of craft blogs and was inspired by all the beautiful things people made with fabric. Having a formal art background but no desire or space to paint, I began to do what came naturally - to "paint" with fabric. I started making and designing soft toys in 2007, having an amount of success on etsy and various local craft fairs. After the birth of my son, I was no longer able to produce the same amount of plush in a speedy fashion, but I still had the desire to make.

That's when I became reacquainted with quilting. Making quilts appeals to both my artistic side and the part of me that craves logic and order. Designing quilts is like creating a mathematical problem and the process by which one comes to an equation. It's like playing with a puzzle or a walk through a maze. It's a celebration of color and planes.

Ultimately, I love to make beautiful things. And I want to help you make beautiful things, too.
