How Daffodil Corner was born
Daffodil Corner officially began April 1, 2011, but its roots go back many years. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was a little girl, using up leftover yarn to make granny squares. In college, my roommate taught me how to knit. When my daughter was younger, I started taking my craft bag to soccer, softball and basketball practices and games.
I started helping a friend man her booth at craft shows. It was fun chatting up customers, and seeing children’s reactions to the cute stuffed, crocheted critters that Sue made. We started to include some of my baby afghans and Christmas ornaments. Then Sue shared a couple of her patterns with me. I was hooked (pun intended).
When I retired in 2011, I made the move from Charlotte, NC to the NC mountains. It was logistically impractical to continue as part of Happy Whosits, so I created Daffodil Corner. Where did the name come from? Well, daffodils are one of my favorite flowers, so I have lots of them in my yard. My home sits on the corner of two country roads, so the name seemed right.
About a third of my business currently comes from my shop on Etsy. I also still do several craft shows each year. I love that direct interaction with my customers.
My most popular item continues to be octopi. I have quite literally made hundreds of these critters in every color imaginable. They are popular with all age groups from newborn to teenagers to middle aged adults. They have been sent all over the U.S., and to Canada, the UK, South Korea and Australia as well.
In addition to the finished products, I have a few of my patterns available, such as my snail. I hope to develop and publish more of these. Creating a new critter takes some trial and error, repetition to get it right, and patience to write the instruction so someone else can follow them. And, of course, testing the written pattern to make sure I have recorded it correctly and the finished product looks like it is supposed to.

Hi! My name is Eileen, and I am the owner of Daffodil Corner. After many years in the IT industry, I am retired, and live in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. I enjoy gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with my family. And making things with my huge supply of yarn!
About Daffodil Corner
Daffodil Corner is an eclectic mix of the things I love to make, from amigurumi toys and collectibles (crocheted, stuffed animals) to baby hats and blankets. At any given time there may also be a bit of de-stash vintage kits and craft supplies thrown in.

Payment
If you chose to use Pay Pal’s E-check option, your purchased item will not be shipped until Pay Pal notifies me that the e-check has cleared.
North Carolina residents will be charged sales tax, as will residents of those states that require sales tax to be remitted even if I am not located there.
Shipping
I will ship your item usually within 2 business days of cleared payment. If there is a postal holiday, an additional day may be required. If there is ever a delay, I will contact you to explain why.
If you pay by e-check, your item will be shipped after your payment is received and has cleared the bank.
In the case of a custom order, I will negotiate shipment date at the time of order.
SHIPPING RATES
Shipping rates include postage and packaging. I do not make a profit on shipping, but I do cover my expenses, so shipping will be a bit more than the actual postage to cover the packaging materials. If there is ever a significant difference between what you are charged and the actual cost to me, I will refund you. If I mess up and the actual shipping is more than I charged you, I will pay it.
In the case of multiple item orders, I combine shipping to get you the best rate. This may mean upgrading to USPS Priority Mail or USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail to get the best rates. Again, I will refund you should the combined shipping be significantly less than what you were charged. Discounts on multiple shipping apply to orders shipped to the same address only.
SHIPPING METHODS
Many of the items you find at Daffodil Corner weigh less than 13 ounces, and therefore can be shipped via USPS First Class Mail within the US. I would be happy to ship by another method if you would prefer, but you will need to contact me via Etsy conversation or e-mail to daffodilcornernc [!at] hotmail.com to discuss options.
If your total order weighs more than 13 ounces, I am required by USPS to use Priority Mail within the US.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
I do ship internationally. In an effort to keep your shipping costs low, I utilize USPS First Class International postage. There is limited delivery confirmation on USPS First Class International mail. If you have any questions about the cost for international shipping, or prefer a different shipping method, please contact me via Etsy conversation or e-mail to daffodilcornernc [!at] hotmail.com to discuss options prior to purchase.
Please realize that your package can take anywhere from days to weeks to reach you, depending upon where in the world you are located, and this is out of my control. I will send you the customs number when I ship, and you may be able to use this information to track your package’s progress.
Please note that international buyers are responsible for any customs fees, duties and/or import taxes associated with their purchase. These fees are set by your country, not by the US.
RECEIPTS/ INVOICES
I do not routinely include a printed receipt, so please indicate in the comments to seller when you make your purchase if you require one. I prefer to save paper and not send a copy in the package, as you can print a receipt from Etsy or Pay Pal.
