I began Daisy's Retro (named for my Westie, Daisy who had passed away) after my (adult) niece introduced me to all the fun vintage items on Etsy. I've always had a love for "stuff" from days past, combined with a love for "hunting for treasures"....it seemed like the perfect endeavor.
In January of 2011, I quit my day job and was ready to take on Etsy and blogging fulltime. Little did I know, a few months later and the next 4+ years would prove to be the most physically and mentally challenging of my life. Beginning in March of 2011 through May of 2015, I ended up having major health issues and multiple surgeries. After each surgery and (lengthy) recovery, I tried to pick up the pieces of my Etsy shop and begin again.
I ended up being surgery free for 18 months...then the word nobody wants to hear...CANCER. I have fought that battle the best I can with chemo, radiation and lots of prayers. I look forward to "hunting, gathering" and listing once more!
