My shop hosts an eclectic collection of vintage and antique items ranging from silver serving pieces to ojects d'art.
-------------------
I began collecting vintage as a child mentored by my Grandmother. As she did, I find that the craftsmanship of the old artisans is often incomparable to modern items. IMHO, a machine embroidered tablecloth just can't match the craftsmanship and creativity of one done by hand.

I tend to rotate things in and out of my living space and studio, mostly as a reflection of my current state of mind. I feel that the objects people surround themselves with speak of where they have been and of where they are going...and most certainly how they aspire to be.

To the best of my knowledge, all my vintage items are 20 years or older.

Thanks for visiting my shop. Please feel free to contact my with any questions.
----------------------------

I also sell my personal art; Giclee prints and mixed media work and two self-published tarot decks; the Portal and Totem Tarots, of which I am co-author and co-creator. They can be seen at : www.urbanatticstudio.com

Last but never least, I hold a Master of Arts and am an Art Psychotherapist for Veteran Affairs. Most significantly I am proud single parent of twelve year old Aidan.

The cups and saucers finally arrived but the box was torn badly and one of the cups was shattered. The postal service was at fault. I have contracted the shop where they were purchased. The unbroken cups and saucers are beautiful!

About

Continuing a Tradition...

I opened the Urban Attic because I inherited both my Grandmother and Mother's fine appreciation for art. My Grandmother converted an old chicken coup on the Family Farm into a little shop, and became a very well known antique's dealer. She taught me to appreciate the craftsmanship and quality of old items and instilled in me the idea of longevity.
My Mother is a 'secret' artist who never was able to develop her own skill due to the demands of work and parenting, so sought out things by other artists that made her Spirit soar.

From her, I learned that Art is its own language, no matter its form.

The Urban Attic opened with objects I admired but knew didn't fit my 'language' and needed to be passed on. I admit I am more into the hunt than all the work that goes into listing <G> but I try to offer up things I find that are unique, well structured, and have a sorta 'song' about them.

All of the items I offer have been pre-used and well-loved. Some come from a history I know nothing about; which may include the odor of animals or cigarettes. I do clean some items, however some I do not for fear of ruining them for a collector. The listing will indicate if I've cleaned an item or not.
I believe in recycling, reducing landfill use, and re-purposing as much as possible. Someone's trash is always another's treasure!!

Shipping
I use USPS, generally First Class Parcel for smaller items and Priority for larger ones. For larger friagile items, I use UPS Pack and Ship to guarantee packaging will protect the item.

Due to my day job schedule, I ship once a week on Saturdays (except for the Holiday Season). If you need something ASAP, please let me know when you purchase, so I know ahead and can make accommodations.

Deliver Confirmations are INCLUDED in the shipping quote.
Insurance is optional and at the Buyers request.

International Buyers are welcome but please Convo me for a shipping quote BEFORE you purchase. USPS International Shipping rates over 4lbs are extremely expensive. I will provide international shoppers exact shipping quotes upon request.

I do not accept returns. Fur coats and clothing are not returnable. Please make sure you check measurements before purchasing.

**** Furniture Items are PICK-UP ONLY. If you want something shipped, I will work with your shipper to make that happen. However, at this time I am simply unable to coordinate shipping from my end for large furniture.
Refunds and Exchanges
All my items are described to the best of my ability. I am not an expert - I just buy what I like. If you have a question about an item, please ask before you buy it.

About the furs - Furs are such a tricky item to sell. All furs condition are guaranteed the day of Sale. Time/Date stamped photos are taken the day of Sale. PLEASE make sure you compare a coat you have, with the measurements I provide. If you are uncertain or need additional measurements - please contact me and I'll provide them and additional photos of the coat too!!

Please be mindful that vintage furs and clothing have a history and many times come from a different era. With furs, even after an airing, they may have odors that some people can detect and other's won't.
With the purchase of a fur, keep in mind that you may want to have it professionally cleaned to both preserve it for another generation and guarantee it's odor free. A Furrier charges anywhere from $50 to $75 to clean a fur coat.
Additional policies and FAQs
I re-purpose vintage fur into my mixed media art. I am also learning how to make throws and hopefully capes out of remnants. I collect them, rescue them, wear some, re-purpose the bulk, and what is in too good of shape for me to feel comfortable taking apart - offer for sale.

I do not condone the purchase of new fur. There is no need, IMHO. There is enough vintage fur out there, for every woman in America to own one, if she so chose; maybe enough left over for a man or two as well. Old coats can be remodeled; hems can be shortened, puffed sleeves removed, etc., etc..

'Honor the animal' is my motto. Use the coat till it falls apart and then use the scraps in some other use. To landfill an old coat dishonors the animals' life and the craftsmanship, knowledge and skill of the era of when the coats were made.
Just my opinion.
