Note from shop owner Hello, Damsel!
Damsel Designed has always been a labor of love for me, but due to some personal events, I can no longer run the store at the volume I once did. Consequently, I am downsizing the shop to instagram. You can find me at instagram.com/damseldesigned, where I am taking custom orders at all times! I hope you'll follow my journey there. Feel free to message me on instagram or email me at damseldesignedclothing [!at] gmail.com should have you any questions.
Have the most magical day!

This skirt was beautiful. Loved loved loved having pockets because I was doing matching outfits and did not have a bag on so I had space to put my phone and a few other things.

About

Dreams Don't Work Unless You Do

I have always been a fan of vintage fashion, but as a college student in 2013, I struggled to find a store that carried exactly what I was looking for: longer-length, simple circle skirts in fun, bright, colors at a price that wouldn't break the bank. I didn't know how to sew, but I was determined to learn, and with the help of my extremely patient husband, I eventually mastered the circle skirt. In 2014, I listed my first 4 skirt designs: 4 circle skirts and 4 sashes with colors reminiscent of the Hogwarts Houses from the Harry Potter series. Since then, it's been an amazing journey of new colors, new fairy tales, and new friends. I've loved every second of it!

When I'm working on new pieces for Damsel Designed, my goal is to make clothing that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and magical! There's a lot of work for me to do as I try and grow my shop, and I'm excited to move forward with it! You can join me on this journey on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Returns and exchanges
Please send me a convo via Etsy describing why you are unhappy with the skirt. Returns are dealt with on an individual basis. If your return is approved, you will be given a refund minus shipping costs once the skirt is returned to me. If you skirt does not fit, I will ask you to measure the waist of the skirt. If it measures the size that you ordered, I will not accept it as a return. However, I will offer to take in your skirt (for a small fee) to the correct size if that is a possibility and/or offer you an exchange.
Payment
We are happy to accept payment through PayPal or direct checkout using a credit or debit. If you choose to send a Paypal e-check, your order may take longer to process while the check clears. In my experience, this can add an additional week to your wait time.
Shipping
Please refer to the item page for shipping and handling time, and the shop announcement for information regarding any shipping delays.
Additional policies and FAQs
I’m having trouble measuring my waist. Where exactly do I measure?
A: These skirts are intended to be worn high-waisted, but they can be worn lower on your hips if you would prefer. Keep in mind that circle skirts are pretty full, and they will “poof” out just a little bit below the waistband. For the high-waisted look, take a measuring tape and wrap it around the smallest part of your waist, at or just above your belly button. You should measure over the top of your regular clothing, not right against your skin. Be sure you aren’t wearing a super thick shirt/sweater, (unless you intend to wear that underneath your skirt,) because that will add extra inches to your measurement.

How long will it take to receive my skirt?
A: On average, skirts take 1-3 weeks to make. Once shipped, they will arrive in 3-5 business days. You will receive an email from Etsy with a tracking number at the time of shipment. You can always find a current shipping estimate in the shop announcement. If you need it in time for a specific date, please let me know.

How do I wash and care for my skirt?
A: Wash your skirt on a gentle cycle and with like colors and hang to dry. Cotton is a breathable, durable fabric- but it does wrinkle. Iron on a high-heat, cotton setting for cotton skirts. For mermaid scale skirts, iron on the backside (the black side) of the fabric on a low heat setting. The skirts will soften over time and should not require as much ironing. Skirt orders will come with a care card.

How long are the skirts?
A: All skirts are 23 inches long. If you would like it to be longer, head to the "add length" section of the shop and purchase the additional length.

You don’t have my size listed/I want to order this in a child size. Can I still get a skirt?
A: Yes you can! Send me a convo and I would be happy to set up a custom order for you.

Do I need to purchase a petticoat?
A: It depends on how full you want the skirt to look. Each listing has at least one picture without a petticoat for your reference. I do not sell petticoats, but I recommend https://www.etsy.com/shop/HandMadePetticoats for all my customers- her petticoats are fabulous! I suggest the 22" length petticoats to go with my 23" skirts. The amount of layers you will want in the petticoat depends on how poofy you want it to be. The mannequin is wearing a 2 layer petticoat.

Can I purchase the shirt on the mannequin?
A: Head to the "Tops & Tees" section of the store!

Do you sell dresses?
A: Not yet, maybe someday!

Can I purchase expedited shipping?
A: This depends on how busy I am. Please message me :).

What happens when an item is sold out? Will it come back?
A: Maybe. When we run out of fabric for a particular color, that color will be unavailable while we wait for new stock to arrive. Sometimes I am unable to get that color or pattern again, and even if I can the process may take a month or two. So if you know you love it, purchase it while it’s still in stock! I cannot guarantee that I will be able to reorder any color- I am at the mercy of my fabric distributor.

Who will make my skirt?
A: Your skirts will be handmade by me or my assistant, Tess. I always do my best to insure that each piece is the best quality, but I am only human and the hems may not always be perfectly straight. The beauty of Etsy is that you are buying something made from the heart. :)

Is the bow attached/can the bow be made attached?
A: No, the bow is not attached and unfortunately it is too thick to be sewn in place. It is a removable sash that is tied into a bow. It can be worn tied to the front, side, or back.

Can I send you a check or money order to pay for my skirt?
A: No. We accept debit/credit cards, Paypal, and Etsy gift cards.

Why didn’t you respond to my message?
A: I may not respond to messages on weekends due to family and personal events. Otherwise, if I didn’t respond to your message, I most likely didn’t get it. If you sent it using the etsy app, there is a really good chance I didn’t get it. Try resending it! :)

A note about allergies: My work space is dog friendly. I try to keep her away from the fabric, but she is allowed in my office. If you have extreme allergies, please contact me so we can discuss the best options for you. :)

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
