Care instructions
My jewelry can be gently washed with a toothbrush and mild detergent- laundry or dish soap is fine- don't scrub, as many beads have a coating that could be rubbed off eventually. The toothbrush should reach any dirt or tarnish embedded in the beadwork. Rinse and hang up in a screen of a window to dry! You won’t break the thread- just flatten or straighten as needed.
Can you switch to clip on earrings?
Yes! Just let me know and I can switch the wires to clip ons. I'm afraid I can't switch to lever back earrings due to the size of the loops on commercial leverbacks.
How strong are the quills?
Quills are natural “hair” from an African porcupine. They are fibrous inside and have a little flexibility to them, so that you can tell when you are pushing it too hard- unlike wood, which will snap with no warning. I’ve never had a problem with them breaking, but I don’t expect it to take the same abuse a metal hairstick does. They may absorb moisture from wet hair and should be allowed to dry out before putting pressure on them. The quill will feel a little soft and it will be obvious it has absorbed water. When dry, it will harden up again. If you are torturous on sticks, this may not be for you, but normal usage will have no issues!
What are your ear wires made of?
Unless otherwise specified, my ear wires are made of sturdy 20 gauge sterling silver or gold filled wire, with added beads to match the earrings, and always come with rubber backings. I use plated stainless steel earring wires for inexpensive pairs- I can switch them to silver or gf for $2. I add my own beads to the wires to match the earring. They are also a bit shorter than most commercial ear wires, which brings the earrings closer to your ears. If you look around, you'll see few people offer precious metal wires, which have a richness not found with plated wires.
I can switch them out for clip ons-free, or titanium ($2) wires if desired. Just ask!
Wholesale availability
I can't physically make enough to do many wholesale orders, and my prices are set low, with no middle man- but I can sell a grouping of pieces at a 30 % discount, minimum $300 retail total. Contact me, I will pull from current stock, not my etsy shop inventory.
Do you ship out of the US?
No, I used to, but had several problems with arrival, customs, and communication- so I decided to focus only on the US, where tracking is easily used to keep tabs on my small packages.
Where else do you sell so I can see your work in person?
My 2023 schedule includes 2 guest weekends at Scarborough Renaissance Festival near Dallas TX, May 6-7 and May 13-14, Allentown Arts Festival in Buffalo, NY June 10-11, and Maryland Renaissance Festival in Annapolis MD for 9 weeks, beginning Aug 26. I’m still awaiting word from other venues and will update!
