Announcement    Thank you for stopping by my shop!

Ukrainian Eggs are an ancient art form still practiced today. They are also known as "pysanky" (plural) or "pysanka" (singular). This word comes from a Ukrainian word meaning "to write". The eggs in my shop are a mix of traditional and contemporary pysanky, and batik art eggs, which may or may not have some of the same elements used in pysanky. All of my eggs are made in the traditional way of using beeswax and dye in a wax-resistant process similar to batik and are all made using blown eggs, meaning that the insides of the egg have been removed. The whole process takes many hours to complete, the total time depending on the intricacy of the design and how many colors are used. The symbols and colors decorating the eggs can often have special meanings.

If you would like more info on Pysanky, such as the meanings of symbols and colors, or to see more pictures of eggs please visit my website at www.dandylioneggs.com.

How I found pysanky

I started making Ukrainian Eggs around 1999 when I came across a book and kit on how to make them at my local university bookstore, and gave it to my grandmother, who had some geese and loved to decorate their eggs. Well, I ended up trying it myself and ever since, I have been hooked! I enjoy making traditional and diasporan ukrainian pysanky designs that can be found in many different books on pysanky and design books, as well as coming up with my own contemporary designs, and sometimes mixing up the two. I draw inspiration from anything I find beautiful or interesting. I love the symbolism and the different meanings that can go into the egg, as if the egg itself is telling a story, or giving someone a blessing or wishes for their life. Currently, I mostly work on chicken eggs, as well as quail, duck and goose eggs.

To see more about pysanky, visit my website at www.dandylioneggs.com. A whole new website is in the works, so stay tuned!

Hi and welcome to my shop! Each egg comes with an egg stand or a finding attached with ribbon for hanging and wrapped in a gift box. If you would like me to attach a finding with ribbon to an egg that doesn't already have one, I will be happy to do it, just let me know.

A note on pricing: I try to price my eggs on a scale of how much time they took to make. The simple ones are generally lower priced, and the more intricate, complicated eggs that took much longer to make are higher priced.

How to avoid mailing problems and what to do if you haven't received your package:

1) First of all, verify that your address is correct before finalizing your purchase.

2) Check all areas around the house and with neighbors to see if the package could have been left there.

3) Look for a notification from your mail delivery service telling you to reschedule the delivery or that you need to pick up the package.

4) Pick up package from post office in a timely manner in order to avoid a return by the post office due to an unclaimed status.

If the egg is lost or damaged due to shipping, please contact me as soon as possible so that I can make a claim. I may need to include photos of the damaged items in the claim. During the claims process I will send you a link to a form that you will need to fill out. After that is done, I will be able to issue a refund.
Payment
My preferred method of payment is through Etsy Payments.
Shipping
I usually ship the next day after I receive payment.

Shipping may be delayed due to coronovirus issues. I am temporarily discontinuing shipping to locations outside of the US and Canada until things are back to normal. Thank you for your understanding.
