This is a very nice necklace. I like it because it's a lariat and that is much easier for me to put on and take off. Thank you for a wonderful, smooth transaction and fast delivery of my order. 😊
Inherently Awesome Accessories
I've never been one to let the grass grow under my feet. When I was in grade school, a teacher declared to my mother: "Dani does two things at once, and she does both extremely well." I would guess that's why, when I graduated from Iowa State with a degree in graphic design and began my career in design and photography, it didn't seem like enough to keep me busy.
Fashion and accessories have always interested me, and I've put together my own pieces since childhood. After graduating college, I loved to shop and follow trends, but bemoaned the high price and low quality of pieces I found in department stores and malls. When my best friend's wedding came around in 2009, I made my first ever batch of feather hair clips. They were well-received, but I wasn't sure where to take my new-found interest in making.
Later that fall, I was contracted to design a logo for Market Day Iowa (www.marketdayiowa.com), an event that I would eventually become the director of. After checking out the scene, I decided I wanted in on that handmade action. I started making more and more refined versions of my feather accessories, focusing on quality, precision, and an accessible price point. As time went by, I expanded into mixed metal jewelry, then gemstones, crystals, and geometric pieces, always striving to create pieces for the modern, stylish woman on a budget. Seven years later, my business is thriving and Market Day is still going strong!

Accepted payment methods
- Accepts Etsy gift cards
For orders in the Des Moines or Ames area, I will refund shipping. Go ahead and purchase the item, send me a convo that you would like to arrange a meeting, and I will refund the shipping. If you'd like to pay in person, I will accept cash and credit cards through Square. In-person sales will be charged Polk or Story county sales tax.
Cancellations must be processed before the item ships. If the item ships before the cancellation is processed, you are welcome to return the item to me at your cost for a refund, minus shipping charges.
All of my pieces are carefully packed and shipped with tender loving care to maintain their shape and beauty. The money you pay for shipping goes toward preserving the quality of your new accessory.
Feather hair clips, brooches, feather pendants, fascinators, masks, rooster feather earrings and specimen pendants ship via USPS Priority Mail, which usually takes two to three business days to arrive. I will add insurance or upgrade to Express shipping by request, just send me a convo before buying.
For earring and pendant sales, I ship in padded envelopes via USPS First Class Mail. I use cardboard backing to ensure feathers arrive unbroken. If you would prefer Priority or Express for your earring or pendant shipping, convo me.
For international orders, please note that Priority Mail can take up to 8 weeks to arrive. Thank you for your patience while your items clear customs! I can also send international orders First Class, which has a lower cost and sometimes an equally fast arrival (no guarantees, though). Convo me for price adjustment.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are unhappy with an item, please contact me with your concerns. If there is an appropriate action to take, I will do my very best to make you a happy customer.
If an item arrives damaged, please contact me within three days of receiving it. We will discuss and resolve the problem. Refunds and exchanges will be handled on a case by case basis. You will be responsible for your own return shipping.
I can't be responsible for pieces lost in the shipping process. I include tracking on all of my Priority Mail pieces in the United States (and some First Class orders), and will do my best to make sure that your piece arrives safe and sound. If you are concerned for the arrival of your pieces, let me know, and I will add insurance to the order.
Please make sure that you provide an accurate shipping address. I am not responsible for problems with shipping as a result of errors in the address.
Custom items will be considered a final sale. I will communicate with you during the design process and send multiple photos to make sure that you are fully satisfied with your custom piece before it ships. If you have any questions during the process, don't hesitate to ask me! Good communication ensures a well-made product.
Additional policies and FAQs
Are the feathers real?
Yes, all of the feathers are real, natural feathers. Most of my feathers are their own natural colors, though a few, mostly the black goose and turkey feathers, are dyed.
Where do you get your feathers?
I have a few feather wholesalers that I regularly order from. I also occasionally locally source from hunters in Iowa and Nebraska.
Are your feathers ethically sourced?
I can't account for all of the feathers provided by my wholesalers, but I have been told that the vast majority are either naturally molted by the birds and collected, or are a by-product of food animals like pheasants and turkeys. My hunters are hunting for food, and simply save the feathers for me to avoid wasting them. If you would like a piece made of guaranteed cruelty-free feathers, convo me and I can arrange for that.
Will you do wholesale?
Yes, I do wholesale. Send me a convo to discuss a wholesale arrangement!
Will you do bulk orders? Is there a discount?
Yes, I do bulk, and I offer a discount on a case-by-case business. Convo me what you have in mind and we'll put together an order that works for you.
Are your metal pieces sterling silver or gold?
Unless specifically noted, my pieces are not sterling or gold. The price point is too high to make an affordable product. I am happy to design you a custom piece with precious metal. Also keep an eye out for my Luxe items, which are made with high-end materials.
Are your earrings hypo-allergenic?
No, however, convo me and I will be happy to replace any silver-toned earwires with hypo-allergenic stainless steel hooks at no charge.
What about customs?
Some countries do have restrictions on animal products like feathers. In general, I have not had any problems with orders being rejected, but if you are interested, do check the list on this site to see if feathers are restricted imports in your country.
