Beautiful piece. The artist does an amazing job of combing elements both classic and industrial. It is captivating and delightful.

This order was cancelled and then re-ordered a month later because the artist was going out of town. You can see my other review...her work is stunning and I am thrilled. When it stops raining I will hang them on my front door and post a picture. I highly recommend her!!
I am a mosaic artist even when I paint.....
I love to build things in the moment with tiny little pieces. I started out in stained glass using the copper foil method. I soon realized that I was not very good at designing the exact pattern beforehand and sticking to it. I abandoned using that method and moved into making mosaics. Mosaics is more of a free flowing art. I love that when you finish you take a step back and you can see your vision more clearly. All of those little pieces actually make sense to create the big picture. It is a metaphor to life.
At 1st while learning I just sort of started "doodling" on wood and "coloring" it in with glass. I really had never been that great at drawing or painting. However with glass it all became clear to me how to shade. I could see the gradual shades of color in a sheet of glass. I realized that I was actually an artist as long as I had glass! I then began to stage pictures with my camera. I learned to study off of that picture. I do a very rough sketch because as I said, I can't draw:) I then paint it by being inspired not only by the picture but by the sheets of glass. I use very tiny pieces because that is how I see it. I then place each one where they belong with tweezers. My tweezers are my hands. I would be lost without them!
I moved into painting furniture by accident. I had some old chairs that I wanted to paint a "fun & funky" style. Very naturally without thinking I started doing dot art. It is much different than my mosaics but yet so similiar. Soon I had custom orders and another art form that I love!
