Dapper accessories for gents of all ages!

In the Fall of 2011, I wanted a cute set of suspenders and a matching bow tie for my son to wear to a wedding we were attending but found none online or in stores. Why do all the little girls get the cute accessories? I figured "Hey I could probably sew these." I gave it a shot and they turned out great! I've made some tweaks along the way to perfect them and make them more kid-proof. Over the years, I've added other accessories like neckties, belts, pocket squares and diaper covers.

I spend a good chunk of my non-mommy time sewing all of these items and subjecting my very cooperative kids to my newest creations and ideas. I generally sew in the evenings, after my kids are in bed while I binge watch every TV series ever created on my kindle. I'm incredibly thankful for all of my customers, who allow me to make a living doing something I love!

All items in my shop are made by me in my smoke free home in central Indiana. Every single item is made to order based on your specifications. NOTHING is mass produced so for this reason I cannot offer volume discounts or wholesale pricing.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
Absolutely NO returns of cloth face masks for hygienic reasons. Because of the special occasion nature of my products and because all items are custom made to order, refunds are ONLY available if the item arrives damaged or defective. Contact me about sizing issues before you buy - I can provide exact measurements for all items. Dog collar measurements are provided both in the 2nd image of every listing and in the item description. Colors can vary greatly on computer screens so if you are trying to match a shade exactly, it's best to request a free swatch before placing your order. I cannot issue refunds for an item being the wrong color or size. Buyers must contact me within 5 days of delivery about a return. Any damaged items must be returned in their original, unused, unwashed condition within 14 days of delivery. Please contact me prior to returning any items.

ANY returns that are approved for reasons other than defectiveness or damage will be refunded once the item has been received in new, unworn condition. Refunds for this type of return are only made for the cost of the item less shipping and a 10% restocking fee.

PRODUCTION TIME:
Production time is 1-2 business days for most orders. Production time can vary depending on the size of your order and customization details. Production time refers to the time it takes for me to sew your order - shipping time is in addition to production time. Extra time may be needed for custom color matching, specific fabric or swatch purchasing...etc. If you need an item by a certain date and that date is within 10 days, please contact me before placing an order.

SHIPPING:
All orders are shipped from Central Indiana. Once you place an order, Etsy will send you an email showing the date you can expect your item(s) to ship. Please refer to the shipping section on each listing to select your preferred shipping method. Please bear in mind 1st class and Priority Mail transit times are only estimates, not guarantees. Priority Express has a money back guaranteed delivery date. Contact me if your order doesn't arrive by the date and time indicated on the USPS tracking page. I will ship beyond the US; please contact me for international shipping rates if they are not already shown on the listing. International shipments sent via 1st class International USPS mail can take 2-4 weeks to arrive. International buyers: please see note below about VAT fees.

DELIVERY:
Shipments are made with delivery confirmation to the address on file with Etsy. Please make sure to update your address with Etsy before purchasing. Refunds are not available for purchases sent to the wrong address. Dapper Gent is not responsible for USPS package damage or loss. Claims are to be made directly with the USPS. Please contact me about any lost or damaged packages so I can assist you. Larger orders are insured.

DISCOUNTS/BULK PRICING:
I do not offer any discounts or wholesale pricing on large orders. I sometimes offer coupon codes on my twitter, facebook and instagram pages.

SWATCHES:
An unlimited amount of free swatches are available upon request for the purposes of color matching before you order. Please be sure to send me your mailing address when requesting the swatch. Swatches ship out via USPS 1st class mail.

COLOR MATCHING:
I DO NOT offer refunds due to colors not being the right shade. I know that ordering online is risky when it comes to color; computer screens are all calibrated differently and trying to match a color based solely on an image onscreen is problematic. This is why I offer an unlimited number of FREE swatches so you can determine if my fabric is the right shade for you by viewing it in person. I buy from many fabric manufacturers; shades with the same color name will vary from fabric to fabric. For example, my solid pink might not be the same shade of pink as my pink gingham. I cannot accept returns for color matching issues. This is a firm policy!

SIZING:
Many listings provide exact measurements to help you determine which size is best for you. If you need additional measurements or size information please contact me for help. Every item is custom made to order, therefore, I cannot accept returns due to the size being wrong. Please be sure you measure before ordering!

ADDITIONAL FEES (VAT & handling)
Some countries charge extra fees once the package is in your country. Please research your country's importing fees before ordering. For example: anything imported into the UK from a non-EU country (like the US) with a value of £15+ attracts VAT @ 20%, plus an £8 handling fee. The buyer is responsible for these fees charged by the post office upon delivery. I cannot mark the items as a "gift" to avoid these fees, as that is fraud. If you would like to see a swatch or swatches of ANY of my fabric, please contact me and I will be happy to mail swatches to you for FREE. There is no limit to the number of swatches. Send me your mailing address to expedite the process.

If I don't carry the color or print of fabric you need, please contact me because I am willing to purchase most fabrics for a custom order.

Frequently asked questions
How fast will my item ship? When can I expect it to be delivered?

It takes 1-2 business days to create your order (slightly longer if you place a very large order). Refer to the shipping section on each listing for transit times to your location and various shipping options. Standard 1st class international shipping outside of the US takes 2-4 weeks. If you're unsure if your item will arrive in time, please contact me BEFORE you place your order and I can help.

What size suspenders should I order?

The suspender size is based on shirt size. The exact measurement of ONE strap fully extended to it's maximum length is as follows:

NB-24m: 24” (61cm)
2T-4T: 26” (66cm)
5-8: 30” (76cm)
9-13: 36” (92cm)
men's S: 40” (102cm)
Men's M: 42” (107cm)
Men's L: 48” (122cm)
Men's XL: 54” (137cm)
Men's XXL: 60” (153cm)

To measure, begin at the belt line in front, off center. Measure up over one shoulder, cross in the back, ending at the belt line on the opposite side. If you find your measurement is very close to one of these above numbers, order one size up. You can include the exact measurement in the comments section of your order if you'd like.

What is better - neck strap or clip on?

It's just a matter of personal preference and shirt style. The clip on is ONLY available for kids. It clips to a dress shirt or polo shirt's collar points and can be put on and removed rather easily, which is ideal for wiggly toddlers. However, keep in mind they might be wise to how you put it on and yank it off!

The neck strap is adjustable up to 16" for kids and 20" for adults. I can make them longer by request at no charge. Please be aware the neck strap does pose a strangulation hazard so please supervise children while they are wearing them.

The colors don't match my wedding, can I return my items?

No. Dapper Gent will mail an unlimited number of swatches FOR FREE worldwide so you can make sure the color is right for you before you purchase. Every item is custom made to order so we do not accept returns for color matching issues. This is a firm policy and is stated on every listing.

Care instructions

All 100% cotton items can be ironed with steam on cotton setting to remove wrinkles. Do NOT use steam or high heat on items with metallic gold print! Lower your heat setting to about 75% and use a dry iron otherwise the fabric will pucker. Spot clean with cold water only. Some customers have told me they have machine washed my items but please do so at your own risk. The hardware may be damaged by the tumbling in the washer or dryer. The diaper covers ARE machine washable but please wash on cold only and dry on low heat or allow to air dry to avoid shrinkage.

I live in the UK, can you pay my VAT fees?

No. VAT and custom taxes are the responsibility of the buyer. These are not fees I can charge on my end, nor can I pay them for the buyer. Please contact your local country's government website for full details on how the VAT tax and customs fees are calculated and where to pay them.

Can I mix and match fabrics?

Yes! Just because the listing shows a blue bow tie and blue suspenders doesn't mean that's the only option! Look through my shop (there's a search bar at the top right) and let me know what combinations you want to create. The sky's the limit!

Do you have gold or bronze suspender clips or adjusters?

No sorry the only suspender hardware and belt hardware I carry is silver.

Do you offer the button on style suspenders?

No sorry at this time I only offer the metal clips.
