Experiments in Jewelry and Fused Glass.

I don't sketch or plan most of my collections. I usually end up taking groups of colors, textures, and other materials and seeing how they work with each other. I tend to think of my studio as more of a lab.

I got into fused glass five years ago, when I took a jewelry class in college. I was hooked instantly. I purchased a kiln and ran with it.

Like the rest of my pieces, with my fused glass I group colors and textures. I use a little super glue to hold it all together long enough to get it to the kiln(the glue burns off completely when the glass is fired and the piece turns out clean). Once the kiln is loaded I fire it up and cross my fingers.

Most of the time the result is fabulous. Other times not so much, but that's the nature of the beast.

Some of my pieces are very, very simple, while others are ornate and complicated. It all depends on the experiment I'm running on that day. :) At times I'll try ideas that are completely nutters and off the deep end. Those usually end up being my best pieces.

I get inspiration from everything around me: the music I listen to, the trends of the day, and the Tempe nightlife.
