I really enjoy doing things with my hands. I find it therapeutic in many ways, andI am grateful to have this shop as an outlet for my designs.

When a good friend convinced me to buy my first rug hooking kit, I really was hooked for good. Traditional rug hooking is a process of pulling strips of fabric - usually wool - through a backing fabric - usually linen or burlap. It is most likely an American craft that began in the mid-19th century by women who used burlap feed sacks for backing and cut up castoff clothing for the loops. My favorite rugs are reproductions of antique rugs or whimsical, colorful rugs in a primitive style.

I meet with a group of creative and wonderful women weekly, and they have introduced me to jewelry making. We have 'play dates' on an occasional Saturday where we mess around with metal or go to local bead shows. They served as the gateway to another wonderful world of color and texture. I love using African glass beads, fibers and metal to fashion fun, funky, tribal, and steam-punky looks. When I discovered the ability to color metal with enamel powder and a torch, I was lost.

I think I really excel in the 'acquisition' phase of creativity. Hence, the sale of supplies.
