Turning all manner of flora and fauna into beautiful Art-to-wear jewellery, taxidermy, Art and accessories since 2011. All specimens seen in my work have died of natural causes or they are victims of roadkill accidents. I have a deep respect and appreciation for nature, i preserve the beauty in things which otherwise would be discarded or left to rot. My pieces celebrate the loveliness that you find in the great outdoors, and capture the spirit of the great English woodlands. I use sustainable eco friendly bio resin in my pieces.

In 2019 i was personally endorsed by Brian Froud the English fantasy illustrator and conceptual designer. He is most widely known for his 1978 book Faeries with Alan Lee, and as the conceptual designer of the Jim Henson films The Dark Crystal (1982) and Labyrinth (1986). He came into my market stall ''Nicola Hebson's Curiosity Shop'' at the Fairy festival in Cornwall in 2019, he bought 3 of my pieces and we had a long conversation about his love of oddities, taxidermy, folklore, nature spirits, nature as a source of inspiration, the balance between light and dark .... The last thing he said to me was ''you are doing very important work'' . Im still stunned this actually happened because his work has been a huge influence on my whole childhood and adult career as an artist. You can see the photographs of our meeting on my personal Instagram page.

5 out of 5 starsThis was a gift for my 18 year old daughter . She is very hard to shop for, but when she saw it, she got a huge smile on her face (which nowadays is hard to see) and she put it around her neck immediately! It was made very well, and is very special & unique and it’s something I think she will treasure for along time! I am very happy that I purchased it for her. To see her smile like that made my whole year!! I would shop from this seller again. Had a little issue with tracking the order, but it worked itself out fine!

IMPORTANT!
All the animals and insects seen in my work have died of natural causes, roadkill accidents or found already dead. Occasionally i will be donated deceased pets remains, and i also find animal bones when out walking in the British countryside. I would NEVER kill another sentient being for the purposes of my art, nor would i get anyone to do it for me. Through my art and jewellery i wish to honour the insect or animal's life, celebrate it's beauty and celebrate the beauty that nature creates. There is nothing more beautiful than the things we see in nature!
In no way do i exploit animals or insects, nor do i encourage anyone to. I use animals that have been left to rot and i carefully bring them back to life and honour their spirit, and i do it with the upmost love an care. Its just the same as someone picking up a shell off the beach, the soul occupant of the body has left back into the ether and i am using the natural resources left over that are available for me to use and admire. I only take small amounts of things i forage such as moss and shells. Anything foraged that i dont use i return to nature.
I have a deep appreciation and respect for all life on this Earth. I hark back to a time i imagine when folk came across a naturally deceased animal, they would use it to make clothes, art, tools and talismans. I believe these types of people existed, and i am the reincarnation of that.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR PURCHASE
All my resin pieces are made from jewellers grade bio resin which is non-toxic and uv resistant. However to help keep it in the best condition please keep it away from extreme heat and dampness.
Please separate your jewelry from sharp, rough items to reserve its smoothness. The surface of resin may become cloudy after wearing for a while, you can rub it on a piece of soft fabric and optional fibreglass/ceramic polish such as peek or auto glym to bring back the shine.
Remember to take off a dead good ring when doing the washing up etc.. to ensure longevity of the piece.
Taxidermy accessories should be kept inside packaging when not in use.
Taxidermy pieces should ideally be kept behind glass, but if not dust may gather on them. If dust gathers you can either hoover them on a very very light setting, or dust them outside with a little dry toothbrush.
Do not get taxidermy pieces damp or wet.
