About

How I came about being a handmade crafter

My name is Deborah,
I design, and create one of a kind folk art & primitive crafts as well as other handmade crafts.
I have always liked the old country rustic folk primitive look.
I enjoy decorating my home with primitive décor so much that I started making my own handmade primitives. I started out years ago drawling that was my passion at first until my grandmother taught me to sew. I learned a great deal about sewing from her. The very first thing I learned to sew was a pillow. I then made my oldest son who is now in his 20's a pair of dinosaur shorts when he was about two years of age. The more I would sew the better and more I enjoyed sewing. But, I also wanted to explore the craft world, and learn more things to make other than sewing. So, I took a break from sewing for a while, and started creating with polymer clay. That was fun to do. I then learned to one stroke paint from Donna Dewberry books, and videos. One stroke painting was very interesting to me because I enjoy to draw. My aunt was also learning to one stroke paint as well, and she taught me a few tricks. I've painted on canvas, wood and glass etc. One day as I was shopping at my local Hobby Lobby store I came across this amazing machine, and began learning to create with vinyl as well. After learning all these new neat fun things to do and make, I then took back to my sewing again. I hooked my good ole sewing machine back up, and got busy making folk art and primitives again. I've combined everything I've learned over the years into my creations. I've made so many crafts that I wanted to share them with others who enjoy folk art, crafts and prims as well. I then decided to open my own little craft hobby shop, and Deborah's Primitive Crafts at Heart was born. I'm very happy to be able to make one of a kind primitive crafts, and share them with others who enjoy them as well.
I make them unique, and one of a kind. I take my time for perfection. I like to make crafts to warm the heart and make someone smile. I cherish each piece I make, and hope you will as well.
Thanks for stopping in.
Have a wonderful day.
Deborah
