Hello and thanks for stopping by. I make jewelry using primarily sterling, fine silver, and semi precious stones. I use a saw, torch, hammers, drills, and occasionally my huge round old cement front steps to transform the raw materials into pieces that I find pleasing in composition. This can take many hours of experimentation with color and texture. I tend to lean toward earthy natural colors or straight silver, feeling this gives the wearer more opportunity to wear my design and get a good value for their purchase. I spend tons of time on small details, working out the best way to bend a sterling vine so it looks natural, making sure the gauge of wire used is suitable for the piece it serves, providing quality workmanship-I even torch the ends of my smallest wrapping wire so there are no raw cut edges, and in general not selling a piece until I have made it into something I would wear and love myself.
I have a huge pipevine that grows over my front porch and do all of my torching in the summer underneath it so I can see the color changes as I anneal and heat metal. As I also have a "day" job it has taken me a few years since taking a university course in fine metalworking to study and experiment with designs, learn not to fear my torch, and gather a supply of tools and material to really get started. I recently took a class in felting and fell in love with wool, and at the moment have been hand felting neck wraps--I'm in Vermont, so that works! I'm a great believer in treating a purchase as an investment, and having the piece to wear for a lifetime and beyond.
I am so happy to join the Etsy community and hope you find joy here.
