Making jewellery is great therapy and I love it! <3

I hand-make statement jewellery in bold and unusual colours and mixed materials, including stone, glass, metal, crystal/gemstones, wood, textile, metal, precious metal and vintage/antiques. Many pieces are one-of-a-kind, and bespoke or commission requests are very welcome. I donate some of my profits to charity.

My story:
I rekindled my childhood love of all things colourful and bead-y a few years ago when I was looking for a hobby that would fit around a long-term health condition. I'd tried knitting and crochet but found them limiting when I needed to stop NOW but had to get to the end of a row/somewhere sensible before putting things down. Also, jewellery is much less enticing to cats! :) I've loved messing about with jewellery since I was a child (I used to take my earrings apart and make new combinations, and used some of my nan's broken jewellery to make things, although I never had any proper tools) but put it all down in favour of academia and a career in science and office work. Anyway, in 2005 I became very ill with M.E. (following cancer treatment) and found myself almost totally incapacitated. I had to give up work/study completely and was unable to do pretty much anything for about 5 years. In about 2012 I tried making simple drop earrings with some second hand tools, and decided I liked it as you can put your tools down and when you come back they'll be in the same place as you left them (not unravelled, or attacked by the cat, or you've lost your place, or whatever!). I took them to a couple of small events and put pictures up on my facebook wall and people seemed to like them, so I carried on and decided to join up with the 'Make ME' sellers, a group of ME sufferers who sell their handicrafts to raise funds for Invest In ME ( I now sell through facebook and Make ME as well as occasional craft fairs and some local shops and galleries who like my things - please ask if you can't see what you want as I have different things available in different places!

I've always loved all kinds of beads, and as I've become more experienced and confident I've started working with sterling silver and semi-precious gemstones. I have struggled to find a 'design identity' as I get bored of making the same thing over and over, plus it's not good for the ME to do repetitive stuff, so I have a selection of very varied stock - from simple earrings and pendants on chain to chunky statement pieces to large assemblage pieces made with upcycled and vintage brooches to things made with repurposed toys and textiles. I'm always thrilled when people like what I make and it's a great feeling!

Returns and exchanges
I hope you will be completely happy with your purchase from me. If, however, you receive an item that is not exactly as described or is defective or damaged when you receive it, please feel free to return or exchange it.

Returns are accepted within 7 days of your receipt of your purchase. Please convo me first in case I can sort out the problem. Items must be in new, unworn condition for return to be accepted. Upon receipt of the returned item, a refund for the original price will be issued (minus postage costs).

Custom orders are not returnable unless the item is defective. If you have a problem with a custom order, please contact me as soon as possible so I can try to help.
I accept the payment methods advocated by Etsy. If you can't see the option you require please get in touch as there may be something I haven't 'clicked'! I can offer 'layaway'/payment plans but these need to be arranged with me in advance via Etsy messaging before you can order. I do accept payment by cheque but be aware that your cheque needs to have cleared before I dispatch your item so please take this into account especially if you want something by a certain date.
I usually use Royal Mail to deliver my packages. I give a dispatch time for ready-made items of between 1-5 business days which allows for fluctuations in my health and ability to get to the Post Office, though I usually dispatch sooner. For custom orders I ask for you to allow 2-3 weeks as it may take me some time to gather the materials I need and complete your project. Again I may dispatch sooner, and if you are in a hurry you can always let me know and I'll do my best to help!

To save costs and the environment I often post my items in reused padded bags, particularly my larger items. I make sure they are secure and look presentable, and in many instances you may not even notice - it's the exciting handmade goodies inside that count, right? ;) If you would like me to definitely use only brand new packaging, perhaps if the item is a gift, please convo me. On that topic - if you would like me to include a personal message from you or a gift receipt (so the monetary value isn't shown), please just ask.

Once you have received your item and are happy, please leave me seller feedback so I know all is well. This helps the Etsy community as a whole, and every positive review I receive helps to increase my rating as a seller and reach more people.

I am very happy to post internationally - please ask me for a postage quote before placing your order if one isn't shown in your chosen listing. Please note that international delivery dates are estimates and packages can be delayed, please take this into account if you need your item by a certain date and give me and the international postal service plenty of time to make and dispatch your item. Please also note regarding customs charges for overseas/non-UK customers: the customer is responsible for paying any charges relating to customs or import duties levied by the destination country. As a seller I am unable to state what these charges might be in advance as I have no access to customs services relating to other countries. If you are in any doubt, I urge you to contact the relevant customs officials in your country and request information from them directly before placing your order.
Additional policies and FAQs
Taking care of your jewellery:
Silver plated, bright copper and sterling silver jewellery tarnishes over time. This is not a reflection on the quality of the product, but a natural process of oxidation. You can buff your jewellery using a soft cloth or specialist jewellery polishing cloth (available in my shop), and you can also keep it in a sealed box (such as a jewellery box, a sealed plastic baggy or my gift boxes) with an anti-tarnish pad (also available in my shop!) to help minimise tarnishing. The pads need replenishing every 12 months or so. Also, wearing your jewellery as often as possible helps to keep it shiny! I have heard a paste of baking soda and water works well to clean silver jewellery, but I have not tried it myself and would not recommend it on items where water or abrasives could damage the piece (for example silver plated items or those with glued cabochons, crystals or stone inclusions).

Custom orders:
I love making custom orders. If you have an idea for a piece or would like me to make one of my designs for you in a different colour or arrangement please get in touch!

Charity donation:
As stated in my listings I donate a portion of my profits to 'Invest In ME', a UK-based charity campaigning for high quality biomedical research into this little-understood neuro-immune condition. The proportion I am able to donate varies from year to year, but is around 10-20%.

Information and advice:
I am not a metallurgist or stone expert, nor an expert in birthstones, illness awareness colours or crystal healing. Any information included in my listings is correct to the best of my knowledge and is for information only.

Jewellery composition:
I work with a variety of materials including base metal/plated metal, sterling silver, Bali silver (a type of sterling silver) and Tibetan silver (a metal alloy that does not contain any silver). Please read my item descriptions carefully to ensure the item you are ordering is comprised of the material/metal you are expecting. All the findings (ear wires, chain, etc.) I use are lead and nickel free so should not cause allergic reactions. Some components I use, such as charms and clasps for my keyrings/bag charms, may not be hypoallergenic, and I also can't comment on the exact composition of any recycled elements. If you are in any doubt, particularly if you expect the piece will regularly come into contact with your skin, please get in touch and I will try my best to advise you.

Wholesale & consignment:
Depending on your terms and location, I may be able to offer some designs on this basis. Each item is different, so if you are interested in placing a wholesale order or would like to stock my items in your shop, please do get in touch.

Thank you for reading all of my shop policies, you totally rock for getting this far!

I look forward to furnishing you with colourful beady loveliness very soon! :)
