About

My Life Long Obsession With Little

My infatuation with little started at a very early age. I could hardly wait to get home from school to work on one of my "on going" projects. I just recently inhereted back one of those projects that I think I made when I was 12, which was a little purse that I macramed with little tiny string. It had a bazillion knots and took me a month of working on it almost every day after school. I was going to sell it at our church bazaar for the sum of $8, but my mother intercepted and bought it instead.
When I was a young mother I looked for ways to add to our income and stay at home. For a while I made little Tea Cup Teddy's and Coffee Cup Kittie's that had movable arms and legs from ultra suede and shaved sheep skin. The smallest being only 3/4 of a inch tall when sitting.

In 1990 my husband, I and our two girls moved from the Seattle area to Bend Oregon. It was there that we acquired some polymer clay to make Barbie doll food. We got pretty good at making it look like the real thing (and so little) and ventured out to make beads imitating some of the old glass millefiori beads that I had collected growing up in Seattle in the 60's. It was then in 1991 our little homeschool business Bumblebeads was born, with the first production making childrens necklace bead kits....and little earrings.
Our girls have grown and have families of their own but I continue to be captivated by this amazing medium always striving for the little details that will make my work unique. The little bee that I have always used with Bumblebeads has come to represent that the impossible may just be (or bee) possible since bee's are not designed to be able to fly!

When my nest became empty I decided to broaden my abilities and ended up working for Douglas Fine Jewelry Design in downtown Bend. Outside of working for myself it was the best job and the best employers anyone could ask for. They are an amazing creative husband and wife team who appreciated the talents of anyone else that they employed. I learned much in the 8 years that I was with them. Because of that I have been able to offer some of my metal and gemstone creations. I love making all sorts of jewelry as you will notice when you explore my shop!

After 22 years of living in Bend Oregon we made the move back to our home state, Washington. Now living in the little town of Sequim on the beautiful Olympic Pennisula, where one of our daughter's and our grandchildren live. We bought a little house in the woods with a little studio for me......I like little.

I have sold my work through galleries in Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and California. I also have enjoyed doing many art shows through out those states. In the past I have been privleged to win awards for my polymer millefiori designs and have work published in five books.

I have always loved to make things. My parents generously supplied me with art materials and patiently put up with beads in the vacuum, wax in the carpet, and ate around my clay projects at the dining room table! My dad was very creative in his wood shop and invited me into it to create things from the scrap bin. Art was always encouraged in my house and I continued to do the same with our two girls by starting this business originally with them.

Payment
I will ship 1-3 business days after receiving your payment. Made to order pieces take 3-5 days. I will notify you if there is some kind of hang up.

I do not include a invoice with your order, but you can print one from your orders once your item has been shipped. If you can't do that and would like me to send one please let me know.
Shipping
Shipping costs are calculated by Etsy at the current rate. Sometimes there is overages with multiple items. I usually refund part of the shipping if this is the case or bump shipping up to priority. There is tracking that comes with it if you are in the USA. I add insurance if it is over $100.

It seems as if shipping policies are an ever changing process. In my research this is the best so far that I can come up with. Within USA, first class w/delivery confirmation. It will reach you in 3-6 days if you live on the east coast.
Within USA for priority mail, but you get it in 3 days. convo me if you want to up grade to priority.
International Shipping:
Customs procedures are different in every country. They tell me it would take no less than 10 days to get there.
Once a package leaves the US boarder there are no gauranties. I have so far never had a problem getting it to a destination. It is beyond my control but I will do my best if a package goes missing to see where it is and get back to you.
Refunds and Exchanges
I will accept returns/refunds if notified within 3 days of receiving your package. It must be returned in the original package and show no signs of abuse. No returns on personalized jewelry.
I guarantee my work and if there is a failure on my part in craftsmanship. I will replace or repair at no charge.
