Creating is a way of life for me. I try to do it in the most sustainable way possible.

I made this Etsy shop in 2011 on a whim and remained pretty inactive on it till I bought a kiln off of Craigslist. This is after years of not having access to facilities. Within the span of two weeks and a couple of lucky online finds (and sweet generous people), a full(ish) ceramic studio was realized in our family garage. I can not fully articulate how exciting this is for me or how powerful and free it makes me feel. I love making things...
I make things because I don't know how not to! I've just always done it. I like to work with a variety of materials but there is magic in clay. Maybe that's silly but, for me even baking a cake is pretty fantastic so the ability to make a cake pan out of a ball of dirt is next level wizardry. A kiln is the most magical oven.

Sustainable art practices are important to me. I use mostly recycled packaging. I also strive to be as efficient and effective as possible while making my wares.


I expect my work to change and evolve here. I am inspired by textures, color, nature, humor, the everyday wonder in my "normal" life.

    My family and I settled in Portland, OR in 2014. I started DeeDee & Shark a few years after setting up a studio in my garage. The name comes from my son's two favorite stuffies, a large bear named DeeDee and a shark named Shark.
