DelaneyJane's cards are VERY HIGH QUALITY and will be hard for this card lover to part with, but I know where to order more!

About

A Mom's mission to fulfill a promise made to a dying daughter.

In 2013 my husband and I were lucky enough to welcome a beautiful 4# 11 oz daughter at 34 weeks and 2 days gestation. Her name was Delaney Jane and she was the most beautiful little girl either of us had ever laid eyes on.

Delaney was very sick and was born in complete heart failure. After several hours she was transported to the local Children's Hospital. The next day I was reunited with my baby girl. She was stunning and beautiful and mine (and my husband's).

She had severe CHD and needed immediate attention so the first procedure she was set up for was a catheter through the pulmonary artery to widen the opening. During this procedure her heart was perforated and it could no longer pump. She was put on the ECMO machine. This machine worked as her heart and lungs.

At ten days old my husband and I had to remove her from this life sustaining machine and she passed away in our arms.

A promise I made to her was that I would find a way to make her proud, to spread joy and to speak her name daily. This card company offers me the opportunity to do all three.

I started it to pay for a headstone for her and now I continue to make and sell cards to honor my promise.

I make each card in my home office, a converted bedroom. I hand stamp, color, layer, cut every single bit of each card. I use excellent quality cardstocks, patterned papers, adhesives, watercolor papers, watercolors, markers and embellishments to make quality cards I would give to my own friends and family.

I started paper crafting almost 20 years ago when my oldest was born. I was a big scrapbooker and even created custom albums for local families. Once I found card making, I was hooked. I realized the scrapbooks I had been making were more for me and helped me remember a story and other people didn't get as much joy out of, because they were my memories.

Card making offered me something very special and unique. The ability to share a creation I loved with someone along with the ability to make them smile because the card was just for them.

I really felt like I was sending a hug through the mail and I still feel the same way.

When our daughter passed away in 2013 I felt helpless and hopeless. I had always heard the best way to use the times in your life when you are sad is to bring joy to others. And I had promised Delaney I would spread joy. I decided what I was feeling had to feel similar to those faced with major diseases like Cancer. I began making and sending cards of hope to cancer patients. I wanted to give them even a tiny moment of joy during their battle. I am proud to say that since December of 2013, I have made and sent well over 200 Cancer Cards of Hope.

This spawned a need to make and send more cards. I sent cards to everyone I knew and pretty soon people were asking if I could make a card for this occasion or that occasion and since I had been collecting stamps and paper for so many years I had tons of images and color schemes I could offer.

I even made cards for the local Veteran's Home in my town. Every year at Christmas I make several sets of cards for those Veterans who may not get a card.

Three years ago I also decided to help the young people in my community find a love for card making. I took the plunge and became a 4-H leader for our paper crafting and rubber stamping project. It has been so fun and rewarding.

My husband and I decided an Etsy shop was a great platform to sell these cards on a regular basis. I take them to craft shows locally, but those only happen a few times a year. I wanted something more steady.

And we named the shop after our precious daughter Delaney Jane.

**You could send a plain jane card but why not send a Delaney Jane Card instead. **

I'm a card maker. It is hard to describe myself without including that little bit of information. On top of that I'm a Mother, Wife, Sister, Aunt and Friend. I am also an angel parent to my daughter Delaney Jane (10/22/13-11/01/13).

I'm not a card maker. However, I am proud to say that I'm Renee's husband. I do my best to make sure she finds time to continue to make her beautiful creations by handling the photography, marketing and anything else my card making queen requests.
